Hello List, IN short, my interests are: STEWART, THORBURN, RANKIN/Ritchie. Also ROSS,FERRIER, HINES, MCCONACHY. I am interested to make contact with descendants( or knowledgeable persons) of Charles and Ann Stewart, arrived on Edward Johnston 1854, with 3 children; Mary 19, Angus 17, and Christy or Chirsty, or Christina 14, from Isle of Skye. They lived at Wickliffe (Hopper's Crossing) and Chatsworth. Mary married Donald RANKIN,1862, children were Ann, John, Margaret, Charles Stewart, Catherine Mary. I believe that a son or grandson changed his name to RITCHIE Angus married Catherine RANKINE,1864, d. at Merino 1928. ? Family. Christina married Hector THORBURN, 1859 in Hamilton Presbyterian Church. Christina and Hector were my g. grandparents; and they had farming land at Chatsworth and Laang. Both died at Williamstown, 1912 and 1931. Their family, Ann, Catherine, Euphemia, Annie, Mary, John, Charles, Margaret, Barbara, Samuel, May, Christina. There are many cousins from this family we do not know, and would be pleased to hear from. I would be very keen to learn more of the Stewart siblings and parents. Are there any folk out there who can help please? Also, interested to learn more of William and Marion Thorburn's family or descendants, also in Laang area, plus another brother, John. Both William and John died at Terang, 191and 1918 ROSS.....Thomas and Jane/ Jeannie (WEBSTER) ROSS, were at Coleraine around 1910. Their daughter Euphemia Catherine married John Middlemas FERRIER and lived at Coleraine. I believe there are descendants in that area still. A son , Harold Percival ROSS, m.Elizabeth Gunning. They lived at St Arnaud. Their daughter Maisie, b. 1909, m. Clarence Hines, Linda b. 1911, m.Norman Hines ,Ian Hamilton Ross b.1916, d. 1998 ? family, Betty W. Ross b. 1923,?? Another daughter, Myrtle May ROSS m. Thomas John MCCONACHYand lived around Korong Vale/ Boort as far as I know. Sorry this is so long, but they went in for big families in those days!
