Hi Julie, and Ron, I have come into this conversation a little late, but thought you may be interested. I have an ancestor who died in the same gaol; he died of dysentry. >From memory, I think you will find if the person you are looking at was a prisoner there will be an inquest; and the PROV has listings of prisoners, with descriptions. Unfortunately, mine wasn't a prisoner, so no description! As he was a farmer, he may have been making deliveries to the goal when he became too ill to travel back home; his son was the informant on the death certificate, and not the prison authorities.
