Hello everybody, My great grandfather, Andrew William Fyfe, arrived at Portland on the "Severn" on 9 December 1856. The passenger list shows the names and personal information about the passengers, and who hired them and the wages and contract term. However, the wages are specified as a number, without any units, e.g., wages 35, Term 6 mos. Does anyone know whether the wages are shillings per week, pounds per month, pounds for the contract term, or some other combination? Any help in clarifying this will be appreciated. Dennis Fyfe
