Hi Beryl, Thanks for the information. I didn't know about the memorial stone. If I'm in the Portland area I'll have to look for it. Last December, my family put a plaque on the History Wall to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of Andrew William Fyfe arriving at Portland. However, we haven't found much information about his activities between working for the Hentys at Merino Downs in 1856-7 and his marriage to Eliza Egan at Sandford in 1866. If anyone has come across records relating to him, I would be very interested. Vanda Savill mentions him on p25 of "Dear Friends" as having an agreement with the Hentys in 1856 and 1857, but then there is a nine year gap in our information.
