Hello Westerners, In my indexing of the "non-issued Probates", I have come across a file on: John TWOMEY a partner with his brothers in the Mount Rouse station who was lost overboard between Cape Otway and Warrnambool whilst travelling with his wife ond one of his three (?) children on board "WESTERN". As there was no body found, so no inquest, and I don't know if, at the date of his death, 5 April 1865, it was reported in a local newspaper? Regardless, there is a report from his brother on the search, affidavits from the Captain and first mate of the vessel, and of his wife. This may interest Western history / family history bods. Found in VPRS 7933/P1, "Non-Issued Probates" Unit 24, item 1287. A big file, because, apart from the evidence on his death, there is much discussion on his estate. There is also a very big file in VPRS 259/P1, unit 86, case 938 in "Supreme Court Equity Case Files" : Mary Twomey and infants proceeded against Daniel Twomey and infant. re "Kolor" station Mount Rouse. Hope that's of interest. Regards Ada Ada Ackerly. Melbourne Formerly Ackerly Docusearch
