Hi Daryl I've just checked out your link http://www.ballaratgenealogy.org.au/digby/past_nth.htm We are so lucky to have you and others who are gradually plotting our ancestors and history in Western Victoria. My main areas of interest are Port Fairy (Harvey family), Camperdown (O'Neill family), Terang (Dunstan family), Ballarat and Bendigo (Henderson/Curry/Dunstan/Barker/Christopher). My paternal grandfather ROBERT O'NEILL was born in 1883 in a tent at Koorong Vale and his eleven siblings at many other railway sidings throughout south western Victoria as their father JOHN O'NEILL (born JOHN BRADFORD, Woloongong NSW 1851) worked on either establishing the lines or other railways roles. (His history on the available microfiche does not reflect the perceived reality.) He is reputed (his obituary) to have been one of the two drivers on the first train through to Warrnambool but I have yet to establish this as a fact. He lost part of a leg in a shunting accident and ended up as Registrar of BDM in Camperdown where he lived for many years until his death in 1920 and his wife formerly ANNA MARIA BROCK, for several years managed the Refreshment rooms at the Camperdown Railway station. I would be interested in connecting to others with similar interests/connections. Beth Codling bcodling2@bigpond.com
