    3. Hi Daryl I've just checked out your link http://www.ballaratgenealogy.org.au/digby/past_nth.htm We are so lucky to have you and others who are gradually plotting our ancestors and history in Western Victoria. My main areas of interest are Port Fairy (Harvey family), Camperdown (O'Neill family), Terang (Dunstan family), Ballarat and Bendigo (Henderson/Curry/Dunstan/Barker/Christopher). My paternal grandfather ROBERT O'NEILL was born in 1883 in a tent at Koorong Vale and his eleven siblings at many other railway sidings throughout south western Victoria as their father JOHN O'NEILL (born JOHN BRADFORD, Woloongong NSW 1851) worked on either establishing the lines or other railways roles. (His history on the available microfiche does not reflect the perceived reality.) He is reputed (his obituary) to have been one of the two drivers on the first train through to Warrnambool but I have yet to establish this as a fact. He lost part of a leg in a shunting accident and ended up as Registrar of BDM in Camperdown where he lived for many years until his death in 1920 and his wife formerly ANNA MARIA BROCK, for several years managed the Refreshment rooms at the Camperdown Railway station. I would be interested in connecting to others with similar interests/connections. Beth Codling bcodling2@bigpond.com

At this time when many of us have some free time, let's see if we can get some help from others on the List. We'll have 3 types of contributions. 1) Let us know your names of interest. Give us places and any info that may help others to help you. SUBJECT HEADING, e.g., ROLL CALL - BREWSTER, CAREY, WILSON, BENSON in Portland 2) Share your brick wall. Some one on the List just may have the key to breaking it down. SUBJECT HEADING, e.g., BRICK WALL - What became of Isabella WILSON after her marriage? 3) Pass on any gem of WD info that you have come across in the past year. It may be a website, a book, or something you ratted out in a FH Library. Just relate it to the Western District. SUBJECT HEADING, e.g. WD INFO - Maritime Museum at Port Macdonnell If you get a good response then make a decision as to when you should change your discussion from public to private. If it's obvious that only you and one other are interested then move it off the List. Sometimes however we get right into a topic and enjoy a bit of lively discussion. If in any doubt just ask. 3. Hi Helen I've replied through rootsweb because the info might be helpful to others. Inez married Evan Morgan (her second husband) and Jack Morgan their son still lives in Allansford, and Bill another son has moved back tothe area and is in Warrnambool, Mary a daughter is also still alive and I think in Allansford if not Warrnambool. Glenn Morgan (the artist) is Bill's son and lives in Warrnambool. I was not aware that Euphemia (real name Annie Euphemia) and also known as Charlotte or Bird was married to a Morgan. She was married to Lawrence (Lant) Malady and died in Koroit in 1969. There are three families of Morgans in the area that I know of as Bill's other sister married a Morgan in her second marriage and my wife's side of the family have Morgans from Panmure and that doesn't include Bill's twin brother Owen who used to own the Panmure Hotel, the other Morgans had moved to Geelong many years prior. Inez owned the land the Warrnambool Cheese and Butter Factory extended onto after she died. She died 1976. I don't think she gave them the land but I think they had first option on it. I have some old photos will have to sort through to see what's there. Digger had all the old photos, he was the family photographer, but Ash Wednesday finished his collection. My mother is Jean's sister so I am always interested in anything about the Dowies or related families, so would be pleased to see a copy of pages relating to them. Have known of the Goldstraws since I was a kid but don't know them personally, though probably met them when young. Hope this info helps and I'm interested to know more about Euphemia and John Morgan and see if it is the same person. 3. Hi Charlie, Interested to know which Morgan Inez was married to. I have Euphemia Cumming married to John Morgan who went to WA although his wife stayed in Camperdown. Ronnie Parsons is still alive as far as I know but Digger and Jean would be more up to date on his whereabouts. In the last 10 years I have collected quite a lot of info on the Naringal-Cudgee-Swans Lane area, and wondered if you would have any old photos of people and places. My principal interest is in Goldstraw, Hortle (Naringal, Timboon, Warrnambool), Watson, Grant (Cudgee) and Morgan (Allansford, Timboon) but anything Naringal qualifies! I have a copy of Alice Goldstraw's "The Border of the Heytesbury" which mentions the Dowies, if you are interested. My gt grandfather Isaac Goldstraw lived near the Dowies from the 1860s and rented 95 acres from William Dowie in 1878/79 presumably in order to clear it and sell the timber. 3. Hi Sue I noticed in your list Dowie My grandparents were Charles Trail Dowie and Doris (Jessie) Nee Cumming and wondered if any relation. Also Allwood and Cumming tie-in as per my reply to Bronwen on the list. I know of Ron & Doug Parsons from Naringal, don't know if both still alive, but if they are perhaps my uncle Ron Smith from Naringal may be able to find out some info. These gentlemen are all in their eighties if alive. 3. Hi Beryl, Sorry I don't have Beryl in my tree at this point, do you have her Grandparents names? Maybe she is a twig on my tree too, off to the side a little though. I haven't really traced the children of Eliza's siblings, but would be happy to connect you if I can. Cheers, Nicole
