Is there anyone researching these families: George Partington / Elizabeth Samuels / John Hammond - Woodford Area George Bailey / Harriet Partington - Allansford Area (also his siblings Ann married Job Wines & James married Christina Simpson &Mary Ann Collinson) Marianne
Looking for anyone with connection to the following names: Elizabeth McNamara c1812 Kildare Ireland James/John Rock c1799 presumably Ireland (1st husband died 1845) James Russell of River Lee (2nd husband) Am especially interested in how the first two arrived in Australia, it must have been before 1844. Marianne
Hi Daryl, Thanks for the info. I knew a little bit - marriages of Ernest, James & Raymond & Mary Ethel. I did not know anything about Reginald 7 John. By death certificates of a parent, do you mean Ellen & Michael or their children? I have Ellen's death certificate - but not Michael's. With the changes to the laws re BDM's, how do I go about getting death extracts for some of the later deaths, (if I find them?) I guess by the fact that John died in Castlemaine, the family must have moved there after his birth? Whose death certificate did you use, and can I have a copy? Do you have access to the Convent of Mercy records? As always, you are a great help Daryl. Hi Jan I think her parents are Benjamin Bone who married Hannah Harding on 3rd June 1825 at Headley, Hampshire Kate came to Aus on the Sussex at the same time as James Furnell and his three children. Dont know what happened to his first wife Sarah Glover Dont know what happenend to Kate but there is a death of a Kate Furnell iage 71 n Portsmouth Hampshire in 1906. She is not on the farm with James at Myrhee in 1903. Perhaps she went back to England and died there....... Several mysteries here...... Have you posted your family names Karen? Basically you get out of a mailing list what you put into it. See the message I've just sent about listing your names and your brickwalls and start typing. PS It also helps other listers if you delete the old messages, just leaving enough for people to know what you are responding to. Greetings Beryl and list, In response to your suggestion for a 'roll call', Beryl, I am forwarding this message (originally sent to the goldfields list, as you will note) in the hope that someone a little further afield may be able to help me find out more about these people. I would be delighted to hear from anyone who can help. Cheers and Happy New Year to all Julie M. Hopper. -----Original Message----- From: aus-vic-goldfields-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-vic-goldfields-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of juliemhopper Sent: Saturday, 29 December 2007 3:50 PM To: aus-vic-goldfields@rootsweb.com Subject: looking to identify Greetings list, This is a long shot, but I am hoping that someone may be able to help solve a mystery here. I have a wedding photo dated 22nd July 1919, bride Daisy Marion START and groom Guy Francis GRIFFIN. The photo is of a family gathering, but there are two people I cannot identify. One is listed on the back of the photo as ‘Mrs. Les NEIL, soldier’s wife’. Now there are NEIL graves in the Amphitheatre cemetery, so there may be a connection here. I do not know where exactly this wedding took place, but the bride’s family were all from the Elmhurst, Amphitheatre and Avoca areas. The groom was from Dubbo in NSW. I have found on Digger a Leslie Henry NEIL married to a Lavinia Mary NEIL, so this may be the Mrs. NEIL in the photo. There is also in the photo a young woman named on the back as ‘Eloise MATHIESON’, but there are no other details about her. She may have been a local, but I do not know of any MATHIESON families in the area. I would be pleased to hear from anyone who may know more. Thank you Julie M. Hopper. Hi All Greetings for the coming year and good luck with your research. At this time when many of us have some free time, let's see if we can get some help from others on the List. We'll have 3 types of contributions. 1) Let us know your names of interest. Give us places and any info that may help others to help you. SUBJECT HEADING, e.g., ROLL CALL - BREWSTER, CAREY, WILSON, BENSON in Portland 2) Share your brick wall. Some one on the List just may have the key to breaking it down. SUBJECT HEADING, e.g., BRICK WALL - What became of Isabella WILSON after her marriage? 3) Pass on any gem of WD info that you have come across in the past year. It may be a website, a book, or something you ratted out in a FH Library. Just relate it to the Western District. SUBJECT HEADING, e.g. WD INFO - Maritime Museum at Port Macdonnell If you get a good response then make a decision as to when you should change your discussion from public to private. If it's obvious that only you and one other are interested then move it off the List. Sometimes however we get right into a topic and enjoy a bit of lively discussion. If in any doubt just ask. Cheers and good luck Beryl List Admin Beryl O'Gorman Greensborough Victoria Australia

Hello, Not sure of the date the passenger list for the "Tornado" is being asked for. However it may be of interest that there is a diary written by the ship's parson/doctor on the 1858 voyage, Although not many individuals are named it is fascinating to read. I found reference to it at the Immigration Museum in Melbourne. kind regards, Margaret Brookes.
