One of my many families in this area. There has been a book written about the family, but there must be more information and interested descendants around by now. Thomas KERR b.1816 , m.1832 to Agnes GARDINER b.1799 Came to NSW about 1840 and were in Portland in 1850 when their 8th and final child was born. Then they moved on to Casterton and Coleraine, where the children went their separate ways. The children were Elizabeth Adams b.c1833 Glasgow Jane b.c1836 Glasgow Andrew b.1837 , d.before 1840 Glasgow John Gardiner b.c1840 Glasgow Thomas Andrew b1843 Appin,NSW James Turner b.1845 Appin, NSW Matthew Hadkinson b.1848 , d.1854 Appin, NSW William Hunter b.1850 Portland Associated names with the above children are : HERD, PENHALL, WEBB,STRIPP, CRICK, BUCKLEY, LEWIS, COMPTON. There is a Jane KERR who would appear to be a sister of the Thomas KERR above, marrying a Matthew HADKINSON in 1842 in Portland , he died in 1847 and she married a George GALE in 1849 in Portland. Andrew KERR b. 1818 m.1840 Janet / Jessie CARMICHAEL m. Isabella STRAIN I have to stop there otherwise it will just get longer and longer. Aileen Travis Crib Point
Hi All, We have been getting some more queries on boundaries. I will be sitting down with a map of Vic over the next few days (by the weekend at the latest!!) and working out definate boundaries for the list. I just want to check what boundaries other groups have the come up against ours to make sure that we don't "orphan" any towns. This doesnt mean that the boundaries may change at a later date if others start up lists that address a specific area (ie Wimmera) or we could perhaps keep this one as a general one for all West Vic. But that we will face when we come to it! Hope this all makes sense! Debbie Down List Admin debralr@iprimus.com.au
Hi All, John Frederick James PALMER b 1884 Yarraville, married Franceska Alma FECHNER at the Presbyterian Church, Dimboola in 1919. They resided at Dimboola for a number of years, where 3 of their 4 children where born. From there they moved to Horsham, where they purchased a small acerage where they grew fruit and grapevines, which were dried before they were sold. The property was irrigated from the Wimmera River. A factory was built and the crop of tomatoes was processed into tomato sauce. "Palmer's Tomato Sauce" was used at the Horsham and Dimboola Shows and the Wimmera Regatta. Fred died in 1948 and Frances died in 1969. Both are buried at Dandenong. Any information re Fred and Frances, during their time in Dimboola and Horsham would be most appreciated. Regards Chris Mitchell

Hi Debbie I have a web page on which is listed a Buncle family tree, commencing in the 1600's. The first BUNCLE in my line in AUSTRALIA was John BUNCLE and Helen HUTCHINSON who migrated to Australia from Scotland and settled in the Derwent Jack/Pitfield area where 9 children were born commencing with Jack BUNCLE who was born in 1844 Thank you and have a nice day. Hi Everyone George Ball had property at Strathdownie East near the Myaring Bridge. It was called "Heathdale Farm". Can anyone help with information about "Heathdale", is it still there? And a really long shot - does anyone have photos of it? George married Sarah Anne Albert at Merino in 1873, their children were - George 1875, James Edwin 1877, Thomas Ernest 1879, Annie Alberzine 1881, Ellaie Isaac 1883, Richard Lindsay 1885 and John Henry 1887. Would love to hear from anyone researching this family. Rae Clarke
