    3. Dear Bob, Here's a link to Rokewood Cemetery and if you click on the Index you should be able to link to some of the other SW Victorian cemeteries also. http://www.ianmarr.net.au/ROKEWOD.HTM The former executive director of Catholic Education Melbourne and an ex Victorian member of parliament was Stephen Elder. He was the nephew by marriage of Henry Bolte, ex Premier of Victoria. Henry's wife was Edith Lilian Elder. There is one public tree for Edith on Ancestry. Good luck with your search. Regards Barbara

    2. David and Sandra Bales
    3. I am interested in the family of Cornish born William BRAY who settled in St Arnaud and where most of his 20 children were born. Some married into a BALES family in the Western Districts but my BALES ancestry is all NSW based and goes back to a convict who arrived in Sydney in 1792 and whose name may not have been spelt BALES anyway. The two BALES lines have no known common ancestry. William BRAY had two sisters who settled in Bordertown which is almost Western District Victoria . Some descendants of those two families, the MILNE and FISHER families crossed into Victoria. My link is to another sister. Phillipa MEINCKE nee BRAY, my gr gr grandmother who settled in Kapunda SA I am always willing to share what I have with anyone who links to my BRAY family and its many branches. David Bales Wyoming NSW sdbales@gmail.com PS My apologies if this has been sent twice. I found this in the draft file

Maybe it is a good time to “up date” our Families and find some new connections – it worked for me. Happy research everyone ............. Gloria.

    3. I’m not sure how far east that the Western District covers but I will post this and hope that St Arnaud is included. Thank you to all those who have this list and all the others up and running. William BRAY b 1839 in St Austell Cornwell ended up for most of his 68 years in St Arnaud and it is where most of his 20 children were born or raised. Some associated names in the first generation are Shueard, Carney, Andrews, Veal, Trease, Quine, Woolcock, Boon, Queripel, McDonald, Peverill, Edelsten, Duggan, Ryan, Caine, Horan and Kelly. Two sisters of William Bray settled in Bordertown and the names of FISHER and MILNE and descendants have strayed at times over the border into Western Victoria. Any contact with associated families would be welcomed. David (Bales) Central Coast NSW PS I am not related to the BALES family in St Arnaud except for those with links to the BRAY family

Stayed around Melbourne briefly [Birth of 1st child registered as Melbourne] before moving to the South Western District of Victoria, Warrnambool / Port Fairy area. During the period of 1843 to 1854, 7 children were born with birth registrations being made as @ Belfast [Port Fairy]. In 1853, their eldest child died, registration as @ Belfast [Port Fairy]. I have 2 photographs that are clearly marked as [1] CLARENCE RUPERT VAUGHAN and [2] MARY ISABELLA VAUGHAN with her brother, CLARENCE RUPERT VAUGHAN, both images [Studio Photos] with the date of 1895 and “Grandchildren of George & Martha” hand written on the back of each. I BELIEVE these siblings are the children of John Vaughan [7th child of George & Martha] ? ? ? ? ? Having looked at several “Family History” sites on the internet, I have only found confusing mixed information around John Vaughan. While information shown on these sites have the Ancestral line back to George & Martha, the rest differs greatly. Variations, among others, include John Vaughan as :- Living in Melbourne & Death @ Northcote / Living in Western Aust and Death @ Freemantle. Both of these examples have similar family members while marriage partners vary. Hoping some one can put me on the CORRECT path. Cheers .................. 3. I am seeking help in placing descendants of my Maternal Great Grandparents, GEORGE and MARTHA [nee Bowen] VAUGHAN. George Vaughan was born 1811 in Wales UK. He married Martha nee Morse – 7th May 1840 in Milford Haven, Wales. Martha was the daughter of John and Mary Morse. Martha and George made their home in Milford Haven where George applied his trade of “Carpenter / Coffin Maker”. Migrated from England arriving in Australia aboard the “Gilmore” 24th Dec 1841 @ Port Phillip. 3. I am seeking seeking information of GEORGE VAUGHAN [1818 : 1911] and his wife MARTHA nee Bowen [1811 : 1879] and their descendants. George and Martha are my Maternal Great Grandparents. I have viewed several Family History sites on the internet where there is a large amount of information of names, dates, marriages etc, BUT a lot of variations and inconsistencies. This is what I have recorded, I would really like some input from fellow Vaughan Researchers as I am now unsure of the accuracy of this data collated. Looking forward to comments. ................. Gloria.
