Don't know, but it's worth keeping in mind that a number of ships from the UK docked at Adelaide first and many made their way overland to Victoria I'm at work at the moment so do not have the file with me, but l seem to remember one birth being at Amhurst and the others at St Arnaud This indicates to me that at that time period they might have been making their way from Ballarat across towards St Arnaud and then on to Wedderburn Also around that same time their was a male by the name of Issel John Steed and a female Besty Steed which could be Brothers and Sisters? Could not find anything on the Lowes But again it could be worth your while joining the Melbourne List and put your question to the list as they are a couple of very helpful members on the list don't be surprised in what they find yes this is also another of my lists Also the fact that we can not find a death registration for either John l Steed or his wife could also mean they might have either gone back to the UK or to another State but l also find it interesting that with a could of the names given to the girls would indercate the use of family names Regards, Raymond Henderson. Hello Raymond Thank you for the registrations. I did have most of them and it does appear that most of the females did not marry. The Registrations for birth of James Lowe Steed in 1870 and William John Steed in 1872 I think are incorrectly shown as Adelaide South Australia. I am fairly sure that they were both born in Victoria and those a Victorian registrations. If you look on the Australia Cemetery web sight you will find Wedderburn Cemetery data which l did some years ago, it lists all the steed family also keep in mind all early births within the Wedderburn would fall under Mt Korong (Mt K ) I'll do a search later on tonight when l get home and send you, using phone at the moment! Hi List, I am hoping to learn something (anything) about my ancestor William Creswell (or Cresswell) Martin (a miner born about 1832 possibly in the London area). He immigrated to Australia around 1852 and fathered 6 children with Ruth Edwards (nee Pettit) between 1855 and 1865 in the Mt Korong and Wedderburn areas. His death certificate states that he married Ruth in Wedderburn about 1854. My searches of BDM and Ancestry for that marriage have been fruitless and I suspect it never occurred. Hoping a fellow lister might be able to steer me towards some information about this family. Their children were: Thomas William, Jane (my link), Elizabeth (died in infancy), James Garraty, Elizabeth and Edward. Ruth had 2 children (William and Mary) from her first marriage.
