hello Linda, Are you still researching the Malhoff family? German origins apparently Mary Duggan marysusduggan@gmail.com 04 8877 0158
Is there anybody who might know something about Henry Field. Henry was born to Thomas Field and Winifred Lawson on 19 April 1867 in Gawler, South Australia. Thomas (jnr.) was born to Thomas (snr) Field and Annie Harris on 30th June 1842 in Cape Town South Africa. The family migrated to South Australia in 1853. Henry son of Thomas Jnr and Winifred lived with Thomas Snr and Annie in 1874 in Wright Court Adelaide. We don't know much more about Henry. We do know, thanks to Trove, he was a beneficiary of land from Winifred Lawson's estate on her death on 1st April 1903. Many adverts were placed in the local newspapers asking for information on Henry's whereabouts which apparently brought successful results. By the way Thomas Jnr was sent to gaol before Henry was born and Winifred remarried twice. We are not sure if she was divorced from Thomas. It is possible he may be:- a Henry Field who had a daughter named Gertrude Isabel who died aged 1 in 1883, lived at the Botanical Gardens of Adelaide whose occupation was teamster, and/or may have lived in Hamilton, Victoria. Any information regarding his life, marriage, death and all other known life facts sought. regards Dennis Grubb

Hello Listers Has anyone research advice or information re James Macnamara baptised RC St Joseph's Hobart 24th April 1864 1864 or has anyone any info about him after his baptism? We have found no record of James Macnamara's existence after his baptism although a James Morrison (who might be James Macnamara) witnessed James Macnamara's half sister Fanny Morrison's (b 10/2/1862) wedding to Alfred Ray , gas fitter in Launceston on 8 June 1889 ,according to the Rites of the Free Church of Scotland ,at the house of DS Brunton. Alas, we don't have a copy of the marriage lines with the witnesses signatures to compare handwriting. We are trying to track my husband's grandfather who claimed to be James Montague Morrison born in Sale Victoria in 1866.....he gave that info on his wedding and his widow gave that info on his death in 1938. No sign of him in Sale or any BMD's. The first evidence we have of James Montague Morrison's existence is his wedding in Perth, Western Australia in 1891 to Alice Gee where he worked as a carpenter/joiner. OUR ENQUIRY - IS JAMES MONTAGUE MORRISON JAMES MACNAMARA? Due to the kindness of a Hobart based Researcher, we have much circumstantial evidence that leads us to believe he may in fact be James MacNamara baptised on 24th April 1864 at St Joseph's Hobart Tasmania ( birth not registered) 'out of wedlock' son of Mary Morrison ne Quill (b 1834) and a John Macnamara (b. 1837). Mary married John Macnamara b on 8 July 1867 . A BIT OF BACKGROUND TO OUR THEORY A key piece of evidence in support of our theory is an ad in the West Australian Newspaper in Perth 23 March 1894 placed by the carpenter of the SS Waroonga " Will James Morrisson, or Mcnamara late of Hobart please communicate with the carpenter of the Waroonga at once". A James Morrison 'signs on' to the SS Waroonga , Perth-Geraldton WA voyage soon after the ad. BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN JAMES MONTAGUE MORRISON AND SAMUEL(BERTIE ASKIN) MORRISON After arriving in WA, James Montague Morrison purchased the Morrison/Macnamara property in Lansdowne Crescent, Hobart from Samuel (Bertie Askin) Morrison b 19/4/1857 Hobart, on 8 December 1896. Samuel (Bertie Askin) Morrison was the son of Mary Morrison nee Quill and Samuel Morrison SOCIAL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE JAMES MONTAGUE MORRISONS AND THE SAMUEL (BERTIE ASKIN) MORRISONS By 14th April 1898 both the James Montague Morrisons and the Samuel (Bertie Askin) Morrisons were living in Bunbury WA where James Montague's wife Alice was the 'nurse attending' at the birth of Samuel (Bertie Askin) Morrison's daughter Clarisse. So there was both a social and business relationship between James Montague and Samuel (Bertie Askin) Morrison. Maybe it was also familial? Hope someone can help track James Macnamara, Ron and Joy Western Australia

Janice, A couple of thoughts. Was he naturalised? His original name may be on that. Where did he first work? The Snowy River Scheme? He would be recorded somewhere in official records. When he got married, did he use his original name? Do you have the wedding certificate? If your grandson is the nearest living relative alive, he could apply for it. If he applied for benefits at all, Centrelink may have "all" his names. I am not sure how you would go about asking them for the information. Have you searched Trove for him up until 1956? Try some variations. Was he a returned serviceman? The department of veteran's affairs may have a record of him. His doctor................you have to think laterally about public or private institutions he may have had to access. Dear Listers My grandson's paternal Grandfather came to Australia ,from Russia, approximately 1950 , he then changed his name, he has since died and no one in the family knows his original name. How do we find it? Grateful for any advice Thank you Jan Morrissey
I am looking for Henry Field who was born to Thomas Field and Winifred Lawson on 19th April 1867 in Gawler South Australia. Henry seems to have disappeared without trace. For a time he was living with Thomas' parents Thomas and Ann Harris in Wright Court, Adelaide, South Australia. His mother Winifred married on 23rd April 1868 at Willaston, (near Gawler) South Australia and later on 25th February 1872 married Nathaniel Vickers Woolford at Gawler, South Australia. On the death of Winifred Woolford the trustees of her will ran a series of Missing Person adverts in the South Australian press seeking information on his whereabouts. It is presumed he was found but not certain. It is believed he was a stockman in Victoria somewhere perhaps in the western parts I am looking for anyone who knows anything about Henry. Regards Dennis Grubb Adelaide, South Australia
I would like to make contact with any descendants or relatives of John Frederick WARREN, born 1841 in Brighton Tasmania.
