    3. Reminder, Reminder, Reminder!!!! - Sat 23 June 2001 Hotspur's WW1 Avenue of Honour contains 40 trees dedicated to memory of local servicemen from WW1. The Avenue has been restored and there will be a plaque unveiling ceremony at: Hotspur, 2:00pm, Saturday 23rd June 2001. Hotspur is a small rural settlement in south-west Victoria between Heywood and Digby and located on the Crawford or Smoky River. The list of Soldiers along with family connections and the original planters of trees in 1918 can be found on the web at: http://www.ballaratgenealogy.org.au/hotspur/avenue.htm I would be keen to hear from anyone who may be connected with the families of these soldiers or who may have any information about them or their families. All visitors are most welcome to the plaque ceremony along with a gathering in the Hotspur Hall which will have historic photographs from the area by Vern McCallum and computerised family history from the Hotspur area by Daryl Povey. There will be representatives from the Hamilton History Centre and History House in Portland along with the RSL and many more .... There are visitors travelling from NSW with family connections to the early days at Hotspur. Some of the early Hotspur Pioneer families are listed on the www at: http://www.ballaratgenealogy.org.au/hotspur/ Are you connected ???
