Thanks to Mavis Dimick for a little screed about Jo, whose talks I've listed in the last couple of days. Jo Currie - born and brought up in the West of Scotland, educated at Edinburgh University where she read English and French Literature, and then, in the 70's - Theology. Spent all her childhood summers with grandparents in the Isle of Mull where she imbibed Mull lore. Married a University lecturer and had 3 children in the 60's and lived in France, Greece, England and Canada. Returned to Edinburgh 1975, worked in theological publishing and in Edinburgh University Rare Books and Manuscripts library. Published two books on Mull and articles on Mull and Argyll families. A member of the Scottish Genealogical Society, she is lucky to live 15 minutes away from the marvellous resources of the General Register Office and the National Archives of Scotland in Edinburgh. Now retired, she is able to concentrate on writing more books on the west Highlands. Her particular interest is in reconstructing the lives of the people who lived there before the Clearances. Jo's inte! rest in the many and varied resources available for family history was sparked by the number of enquiries which came to her desk from people seeking their roots And Lyn Bateson - Jo is making one appearance in Brisbane at the upcoming conference, which you Queenslanders would know more about than we southerners Cheers Beryl O'Gorman Greensborough Victoria Australia List Admin
