As I'm new to this list I just wanted to post our FYFE Family Interests in the Castlemaine & surrounding area: James FYFE, born c1838 Falkirk - Scotland, married 12 January 1862, in Hawthorn, Ellen WHELAN, born c1845, Bacchus Marsh, Victoria - Aust. CHILDREN: 1. James Wood FYFE, born 30 June 1872, Castlemaine, Victoria - Aust., married 7 June 1905, in Fitzroy, Victoria - Aust. Mary Ellen ROBINSON, born c1883, Fitzroy, Victoria - Aust. James died 23 April 1951 in East Brunswick and Mary died October 1949 in Melbourne. It is this line that my husband is a decendant of. 2. Mary FYFE, born c1875, Castlemaine, Victoria - Aust., married in 1906, in Castlemaine, Victoria - Aust., Johnothan ELCOCK. Mary died in 1943 in Melbourne. 3. William Henry FYFE, born c1868, The Lodden, Victoria - Aust., and died c1869, Casterton, Victoria - Aust. 4. Jeanette Wood FYFE, born c1862 5. Isabella FYFE, born c1878, The Lodden, Victoria - Aust., married in 1907, in Victoria - Aust., Thomas James SHIELLS. Isabella died in 1951, Sham. 6. Johnothan Henry FYFE, born c1880, Castlemaine, Victoria - Aust., married in 1904, in Castlemaine, Victoria - Aust., Jessie Bruce BELL. One child known - James FYFE, born in 1923 in Fleminton, Victoria - Aust. Johnothan died in 1951 in South Melbourne. 7. Jane Annie FYFE, born c1870, Casterton, Victoria - Aust. 8. Mary Jane FYFE, born c1865, Will., Victoria - Aust., and died in 1867, Will., Victoria - Aust. 9. Mary Jane FYFE, born c1867, Melbourne That is pretty much all I know about these people - according to the birth certificate for James Wood FYFE (1), Ellen WHELAN (his mother) was the informant and said that her and James FYFE (senior) had married 12 January 1862 in Hawthorn - to this day I have been unable to find proof of this marriage taking place! I am currently obtaining other birth certificates (of some of the children listed above) to help confirm the marriage date. I am interested to see if anyone else is researching this same line - if so, I'd love to here from you.
