Please forgive me for the triple posting, but Ararat seems to be in the middle of the all of the above lists. Whilst going through my father Jim Wyatt's "treasures" I came across some photographs of young girls who worked for him at the Railway Refreshment Rooms in Ararat in the period 1946-1951. One of the girls has written names on the back of the photographs, so I will list them below. Of course the names, in the majority of cases, would be maiden names. The Ararat station no longer exists in the form it took in those days. Nor do the refreshment rooms exist anymore. I feel the memories of those times should be preserved and I am one of the few children whose home was the refreshment rooms. I would love to here from any of "dad's girls" as we called them. I would be grateful to anyone on the lists who could put me in touch with these "girls". My father also managed refreshment rooms in Ouyen, Warragul and Bendigo. Hi All Arrived back from Tassy at the disgusting time of 5 am Sunday morning. Princess off to Sydney into dry dock for a couple of weeks so we caught the last trip. We met a couple from Perth who set out on an indefinite holiday not knowing this, and had to pay $300 for a private contractor to take their car back to the mainland as they couldn't get a booking. Ah well! Tasmania was/is beautiful. All those doomsdayers who warned us to take extra woollies and thermal underwear - Boo! Hiss! We didn't need it. But I did learn one thing. My gg grandfather is buried in the Queenstown cemetery, and I'm sure I know now what killed him - The trip from Strahan to Queenstown in 1896. A big thank you to Daryl for holding the reins in my absence. I'm still ploughing through messages but don't see any sign of anarchy or a revolution. Cheers Beryl O'Gorman Greensborough Victoria Australia "The Return of the List Admin"

Dear All, Apologies for Cross Posting. A few nights ago I visited the following site: http://www.skp.com.au/memorials/ and found some of my relatives' names, where they are commemorated and photos of the monuments. I think that this is quite a valuable and useful site. I would like to suggest that maybe many of us could visit our local memorial, take a photo of it and transcribe the names. We could then send all of this to the site owner. There is an index on the site of what has already been done. I have started the ball rolling today by photographing and recording the names on the Blackwood (Sth Aust) and Coromandel Valley (Sth Aust) Memorials today - a cousin, R.B. Reid M.C., is commemorated on the former. Would anyone else like to take up the 'challenge'? Regards, Michael.

By chance............... does anyone know of a Phillip THOMAS who lived at Jarmouneau St in Warracknabeal around 1890? On the death certificate of Robert Thomas ROBERTS in 1891 he is written in as the "adopted father". The parents of Robert were: Owen ROBERTS and Isabella JOHNSTON. Isabella died at Great Western in 1872 due to a cart accident when Robert was 6 weeks old. So am starting to wonder a bit about the "adoptive family". cheers, Leone
