    3. Looking for anyone researching the following ANSON family from around Coleraine. George ANSON (1821-1886) from Lincolnshire and his first wife Elizabeth JOHNSON (1818-1866) appear to have arrived in Victoria ca 1852 and had at least 5 children. After the death of his first wife George ANSON married Dinah DONNER, 1820-1900 (widow of Thomas RHODES) in 1868. Thanks, Daryl Povey

    1. RE: [AUS-VIC-NorWest] For MCLEAN researchers
    2. Cooper, Ron
    3. Beryl, Whilst on the McLEAN subject, I was researching one of my family ancestors. Her name was Maria KILLEEN. When Maria arrived, c. 1855, she was illiterate. When she married at Williamstown, presumably the Priest at her wedding wrote her name as she pronounced it, hence her name appeared on her Wedding Certificate as Maria CLAYNE to Samuel SMITH. When her first 2 children were born, her Maiden Name was recorded as McLEAN. On the baptism of her 3rd child, her Maiden Name was given as KILLEEN, which occurred after her younger sister arrived. 3. Hello Listers, Do any of you have interests with or information about the RENNEY family who were known to be in Bordertown then Lillimur and Carron in the Wimmera in 1870's and descendants in general area to the present time. Parents William and Eliza RENNEY are of particular interest. Four children: John b. 1846, Henry b. 1848, Sarah Alice b. 1850 and Elizabeth b. 1853. Very little information available on the parents - no known birth, marriage or death records. No record of Elizabeth's death. She married Thomas McLaren in Murtoa in1877 and he died in Deniliquin in 1922 but I have been unable to find a death record for her. Would love to hear from anyone related or with knowledge of this family. Leonie

    1. [AUS-VIC-NorWest] More about Jo Currie
    2. Beryl OGorman
    3. Thanks to Mavis Dimick for a little screed about Jo, whose talks I've listed in the last couple of days. Jo Currie - born and brought up in the West of Scotland, educated at Edinburgh University where she read English and French Literature, and then, in the 70's - Theology. Spent all her childhood summers with grandparents in the Isle of Mull where she imbibed Mull lore. Married a University lecturer and had 3 children in the 60's and lived in France, Greece, England and Canada. Returned to Edinburgh 1975, worked in theological publishing and in Edinburgh University Rare Books and Manuscripts library. Published two books on Mull and articles on Mull and Argyll families. A member of the Scottish Genealogical Society, she is lucky to live 15 minutes away from the marvellous resources of the General Register Office and the National Archives of Scotland in Edinburgh. Now retired, she is able to concentrate on writing more books on the west Highlands. Her particular interest is in reconstructing the lives of the people who lived there before the Clearances. Jo's inte! rest in the many and varied resources available for family history was sparked by the number of enquiries which came to her desk from people seeking their roots And Lyn Bateson - Jo is making one appearance in Brisbane at the upcoming conference, which you Queenslanders would know more about than we southerners Cheers Beryl O'Gorman Greensborough Victoria Australia List Admin
