Hi All Anyone know of any records of Rosebrook Estate in the southern Wimmera circa 1850s? Who owned the Estate, etc. Was lucky enough to find a diary at the RHSV for the owner of the second estate my great grandies worked at - Rocklands. That was where Rocklands dam is now. The List is very quiet. Listers on the Western District List have been having a chat about different ways to go about publishing their family histories - some already done, some thinking about, etc. Feel free to put in your sixpence worth here. I'm saving all the messages so I can give people a package of everyone's suggestions at a later date if wanted. Cheers Beryl O'Gorman Greensborough Victoria Australia List Admin

Hi Beryl I have nothing to go on for his age or birth. I have order his wife's death certificate hoping that it may give me some light. I also haven't found him on immigrations records either. I know his wife is buried at Avoca Cemetery, so am assuming he is buried there also. I think that I might join the Avoca Family History Society in hoping that they maybe able to shed some light for me. Hi all, It may already have been sent, but if you are using Outlook, to clear the request, start a new message: Open File Properties and click on the offending "ticked" box - which will clear it for you. Hi List I wondering if anyone can help me with this brick wall. The above, William Stuart Burns, is my ggggrandfather. I can't find a death for him anywhere!!!! I know that he married a Elizabeth Smyth in East India and they had all their children in England. When the immigrated to Australia they lived all their lives in Homebush, Victoria. I have found Elizabeth's death which was in 1877 in Homebush, but no death for William. I do know that Elizabeth is buried at Avoca Cemetery. Any info or guidance would be appreciated on how I can traced his death. Cheers Nardia

Could someone with knowledge of the Apsley (West Wimmera) area please advise me if the above names are towns or names of properties/homesteads. Thomas MURPHY and Emma Amelia SMITH were married at Beneyo Apsley in 1854. I cannot find their marriage on the Pioneers Index. Their 4th child, Agens Hester Murphy was born at Neuarpur, Apsley in 1863. I have a copy of the birth registration and could not find Neuarpur on the map. Look forward to your response Regards, Wilma Melbourne Vic. Aust.

Hello Friends, Some of you may be interested to hear that the State Records Office of New South Wales (Australia) has just added the Index to the 1841 Census to its ever expanding website http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/ Once there, click on "Services" (in the menu on the left hand side of the screen) ...... then on "On-line Services" ...... and finally click on "Index to the 1841 Census". Have fun and make good use of the % wildcard ...... for example, in the field of "Surname", I typed "Maddern" and didn't find any ...... but by typing "Ma%" I get all the names starting with "Ma" to search through ...... which will cover the possibility of a misspelling. Kindest Regards ...... Corinne in Melbourne, Australia.

Hello Kay, In the 1888/1889 Pastoral & Agricultural Directory of Victoria under "Stations" "Narub Narub" was owned/managed by Walter Simmons and address given as Chatsworth which is on the Hopkins River, east of Hamilton in Western Victoria. It was not listed as one of the original squatting stations in "Victorian Squatters" by Spreadborough and Anderson, so it seems was set up by purchase, not as a licence.
