    1. [AUS-VIC-NorWest] MIRAM PIRAM
    2. Lynette Joy Bateson
    3. Hi all, I am researching the Elias and Margaret BATESON family who selected land at Miram Piram in the Shire Of Kaniva/Yanipy in 1880's onwards. Other associated families include - H. SCHMIDT, RIDEOUT, D. HARRISON, WATERS, GOULD, SMART, COUTTS, and also LACKMANN of Kaniva. Does anyone have any information about the early families in Miram Piram and local district - i.e local background history and life experiences of people who shared experiences of my BATESON family 1880 to 1927. Would like to hear from you. Lyn from Brisbane, Qld. -- MZ

    1. [AUS-VIC-NorWest] Look-up - WORRALL/KELLY/MELLING
    2. Bill & Lone White
    3. Hi Listers, This message has been posted to both Goldfields and North West lists - apologies for any inconvenience. Extending my search on my g grandfathers siblings and seeking to fill in some gaps. I have included a number of requests but would appreciate anything. I wonder if SKS would have the time to look-up the following; Children of Edward KELLY and Hannah Craig: 1. Date of marriage and death of John Melling WORRALL m.Mary Ann KELLY probably some time before the birth of their first child Hannah Elizabeth in 1868 at Ararat. Mary Ann died in 1895 at Mt Korong 10552 (Digger's Federation Index) however it is probable that John died after this. 2. (a)Any marriage indexed for Robert b.d. circa 1850 England, Patrick b.d.1861 and/or Thomas Raymond b.d. 1865 Ararat KELLY. (b). Any d.o.d. for Robert KELLY 3. The name Melling was given as a name to Edward Silverous Melling KELLY who was born in 1867 and seems to have disappeared after having a daugher Tita Mrytle (who later took her mother's married name Williams) in Steiglitz in 1894. This naming (Melling) seems to be a strange coincidence and I wonder if there is anything regarding MELLING in the pioneer index that may offer some help - any suggestions welcome. Thanking everyone for their patience and assistance Cheers Bill in Cairns,

    3. Sorry for multiple postings to those on other lists. I have an index for a book in the Battye library in Perth WA called "Australia's fighting sons of the Empire: portraits and biographies of Australians in the Great War" published Perth WA Palmer & Ashworth 1920. This book has about 1500 listings in it, with an amazing number of Eastern states people listed. They all seem to have joined up in WA but a lot were born elsewhere. I have photocopied some pages that have names I am interested in, but that includes 308 listings. I would be happy to let you know if a name is in the index and if it is one of the ones I have photocopied I would be happy to send the details or scan a copy of it to you. The index lists only name and initials, no other information, so it is a longshot. Some died in the War but a lot came back home and it gives varied details about where they were born and schooled, parents names, brides names, where they enlisted or when they enlisted and when they were discharged or went to after discahrge. The information varies with each entry. But quite a lot of entries are very detailed. Diana in Perth WA
