I just heard on local ABC radio a discussion with the organiser of an exhibition currently at the Old Melbourne Gaol. He made what I think is a quite exciting statement... that he has information that an old mine, "close to the North-East" and known to have been a Kelly hide-out, is believed to contain a chest. I understood him to say that the chest was mentioned by Jim Kelly who said it held various old papers relating to pre-1880. The confirmation (or otherwise) of this will be known in the next couple of weeks. What lends considerable credibility to this is the fact that Ian Jones is involved. It was also stated that Ian Jones, and others, believe now that Ned was married to his cousin on the night before his execution. I would assume this to be Kate Lloyd. And so it goes on. Peter Ross
