October 69 - Yes 11 months since the theft. ================== Stolen from the dwelling of Gerald Byrne, 3 Mile Beechworth Ovens district on the 4th instant, a reversible coat both sides brown pockets on each side velvet collar on one side, a pair nearly new miner's boots and an open face silver lever watch #713. October 1869. --------------- Nicked from near the dwelling of Georg Wilson Buckland, Ovens, on the 9th instant a pair of red blakets with blue selvage./ October 69. ====== Stolen from the hotel of Mark Baldwin Beechworth, on the 14th inst an open faced silver Geneva watch, small black spot on back of the case, black cord guard attached October 69. === William Smith was stopped on the evening of the 8th ins 4 miles from Wangaratta and robbed of £5 by two men. The first aged about 45, 5'7" or 8" stout build whiskers wore grey coat. The second man was about 47 5'6" high dark beard and whiskers, wore ight cord trousers and blue monkey jacket and carried a pistol. Both carried swags. November 16th 1869 John P Courdroy was stopped on the Mansfield road 6 miles from Jamieson, on the morning of 8th inst and robbed of about £4.17s by Henry Power alias Johnstone who is now described as wearing drab wideawake with broad black ribbon, grey tweed coat, shepherd-plaid shirt, Before cord trousers, Wellington boots with the toes turned up, and a red comforter or neck handkerchief; rode a chestnut horse and carried a double gun and two revolvers. Heading for Beechworth or Wang 18/11/1869. ------- News from Tarrawingee - from th stabe of George E Mackay Tarrwingee Ovens 6/11/1869 saddle and bridle. = Peter Thompson was stopped at Mansfield, on the morning of the 8/11/1869 instant, by Power the bushranger who took from him £7.5s and a bay horse, saddle and bridle; he also took from the mail bag 2 cheques on the bank of NSW Mansfield, from T.W Palmer to E. Good for £8 and £3.5s respectively. The saddle was a half worn colonial one, new lining and knee pads "William Kelly, Jamieson" written in ink on near flap above the spring-bar, leather girth stamped "E Martin Mansfield, the bridle was English, snaffle, plated buckles, white headband, headstall repaired with new piece on top, reins repaired with an old piece of leather. =============
