I am new to this list but have been reading it with interest for a number of weeks. Just spend a day in Beechworth, visiting the museum, talking to Geoffrey Craig and doing both Stanley and Beechworth cemeteries. I am a direct descendant of James Lishman Wilberforce and Ellen Ashdown, who were one of the pioneering families (no 109 in Rosalyn Shennan's book), through Willard Ashdown Wilberforce who married Ada Prismall, and their daughter Ellen. I was advised that the baptism, marriage and death records of some of the Beechworth churches are intact and was wondering if SKS could point me in the right direction to get lookups or copies of certificates. I have copies of the BDM certificates for the above people, but would be interested in the other certificates available. I would be more than happy to hear from any other people researching this family or the connected families,ie. Corbetts, Colliers, Townsend, Lowing and Simpsons. Carol Dale

Carol hello. Depending on which church you are speaking of, I do believe that the Beechworth Presbyterian records are in Hamilton , Vict. Other than that, I don't know what records for Beechworth churches do exist . Good luck, and I would like to hear if you find out any more on this subject. regards Denise
