Tommy Hoyle coach driver who worked for Crawford and Co. died on this day. He was workig at 4 am on 18th preparing the coach for the trip from Baddaginnie when the horses took firght and bolted. Tommy was dislodged from the box and crushed under the wheels of the coach. Four passengers were thrown on but none seriously injured. His funeral was well attended. Tom, a well respected member of the community left a wife and family. This accident caused renewed agitation for the fitting to coaches of a safety bolt which could be withdrawn in an emergency allowing the horses to become detached. If anyone is connected to Tommy, I have a newspaper article about him and his untimely death. Denise
