Hi Denise, See "On this day in the North East", page 244: Nov 25th, " The crowd was in a particularly festive mood as celebrations were also going on all over the North East to welcome the arrival in Victoria of the Duke of Edinburgh". Party time! I'm sure I've read somewhere however that HRH was somewhat bored by his stay in Beechworth , and was a tad churlish and anxious to leave. I hope the residents were equally happy when he left.
