Hi Nandina, "Fraid it was me that came home too. I was supposed to stop for dinner, as I believe was Peter. But as the day went on I began to panic and just had to get home. Awful feeling. Anyway I did some research for you but didn't have a great deal of luck. The girls there were most helpful. We could find no reference to the property...Maustan,Dandongadale. I was surprised at the lack of research material that the Wang. group has. Makes ours look like the State Library. That left only cemetery records to look at, and even then they only had headstones. There was no reference to Maud's burial.....no headstone anyway. I copied all BERRY's buried, with headstones in the Wang cemetery which I will forward as soon as I type them up.....all fairly recent ones...1955 was the oldest grave. We headed for the cemetery & intended taking some photos for you but Oh dear...what a mess. Even though I had site numbers it was almost impossible to find anything. I didn't get to the lawn section. Dianne Carroll has volunteered to photograph all graves for them at some stage. If you go to http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com and do a search for BERRY you will find the Wangaratta lot there. and a contact person for this family in Wang is Kristine BERRY 5 Adams Street Wangaratta I will send the other to you in the next day or so. Hope it will be of some help to you. regards Joy ----- Original Message ----- From: nandina morris <nandina@alphalink.com.au> To: <AUS-VIC-NE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, March 18, 2002 10:17 AM Subject: Re: [AVNE] Murchison > Peter - You have alarmed me. The reason no information was found on the property at Dandongadale is because Dandongadale is not in the area covered by Wangaratta family history society. Dandongadale should be covered by the Myrtleford or Bright groups. Wangaratta family history society have a large collection of research material for the area covered...........Wangaratta, Tarrawingee, Eldorado, Chiltern,Rutherglen, Glenrowan, Greta,Milawa ,Boorhaman, Bowmans Forest, etc. We are lucky to have a collection of information on Beechworth and Stanley as well. We would welcome anyone who wants to come and check out our resources to contact us. We do try not to double up on information held by other groups in the area. We have a large collection of victorian cemetery records and headstones as well. The burial records for Wangarata cemetery were not in the library on Sunday due to unforseen circumstances involving the forthcoming production of a c.d. including both the headstones and the burial records. But those people attending the "circus" were told several times on the day to write down any lookups they had that did not have a headstone and the information would be sent to them. It is unfortunate that no guide could be found for the day to help people find their required graves. I was unable to help due to a number of circumstances and was unable to find someone else to do it. When the c.d. comes out, you will be able to print out maps to take with you to the cemetery. The rest of the "circus" must have been satisified with their visit to Wangaratta f.h.s. because some of them are returning tomorrow because we had too much material for them to look at in one day.Others have said they will be back later in the year.
