    3. Hi Marg, do you happen to have any PATTERSON or HULME on your partial listing of Holbrook cemetery? Quite a few people from the Greta/Oxley area seem to have moved to the Holbrook/Culcairn area no doubt due to the lack of available land - other names I've come across are FERGUSON, GAMBLE, COZENS, JONES. Wangaratta Chronicle, Saturday August 31, 1889 BORDER RUSH FOR LAND. - There was another great rush for land at the Albury land Office on Thursday morning there being upwards of 100 applicants for a 1000-acre block thrown open at Germanton. The demand for land in that district is very great, and numbers are waiting a cancellation of useless reserves, and the falling in of leases in the eastern division. Yesterday's "Banner" says selectors are not alive to their own interests when they do not bring their conditional purchases under the Act of 1884 which reduces the interest from 5 per cent to 4 per cent. Wangaratta Chronicle, Saturday July 19, 1890 LAND SELECTION IN NEW SOUTH WALES. LARGE AREAS AVAILABLE. The announcement made a few days ago that the leases for nearly 600 000 acres of land in the eastern division of New South Wales are about to fall in will naturally have attracted considerable notice in Victoria. A greater portion of the land in the Eastern division may be applied for conditional purchase on Thurs next. The land lies in most of the land districts in the division, it being in those of Albury, Armidale, Billinger, Bombala, Burrowa, Corowa, Young, Gundagai, Yass, Cowra, Braidwood, Moruya, Casino, Tenterfield, Cootamundra, Eden, Glen Innes, Grafton, Tukmut, Iaverell, Kempsey, Molong, Murrurundi, Tamworth, Queanbeyan, and Walcha. On the 31st of this month another patch of leasehold may be selected, and on August 7th and certain subsequent dates the remainder of the 600 000 acres will be available. As on former occasions, Victorian farmers have crossed the border, and taken up land in this colony when the unlocking of a large area afforded them a favourable opportunity to do so, and as no doubt the effect of the present releasement will have the same effect, it may not be out of place to give a few general indications of the procedure required in taking up the land...... Hi Kaye Thank you for those clippings, I found them very interesting, as will others I'm sure I found, completely by accident, while looking for my own GEHRIG family in the Culcairn listing, one of my husbands GLENN family, that I had lost track of after he left crookwell, he had married into the Shultz family, I remembered Shultz's from when I lived there as a "nipper" : ) and bingo, now have photo's and a whole new family for the folder instead of a blank spot.
