    1. [AVNE] Congratulations
    2. Still Saturday Mar 16th in the USA - St. Paddy's Day already across the date line! As I browsed the Aus-Vic-Ne Mailing List Home Page (visitor # 1262) this morning, the thought struck me that Peter Lakemen and the volunteers have done a great job of collecting and referencing information on the home page. I went back into Rootsweb and browsed the Aus-Vic-Ne list which, if I am right, started 2 years ago today and almost 3,900 postings ago. Happy 2nd birth day to the list and Peter, congratulations on your efforts Pat Morgan Corte Madera, California

    3. Hello Pat, Thanks very much for the kind words. As I stated in the welcoming message you would have received when you subscribed to the list and in the preamble, although I have an interest in the area, my personal knowledge of the north east is small. All I can do is to provide the list and the support website. Along with you, I sincerely thank the couple of dozen people that have made the website (and the mailing list) so valuable by providing the material available in the Resources, Spares, Books, Lookups, etc pages. The amount of work they have done in preparing the data for inclusion is huge, and all of this is done with the aim of helping others with little or no chance of furthering their own research. It is not just the preparation of the initial data that they have done, but the willingness to help others by their offer to provide further details of this data in the future. I cannot think of one example where someone has asked me to remove their entries (or their contact name from the entry) due to the work involved in answering queries. My work is finished when an entry is uploaded to the website, but theirs continues to go on. So it is the people who have selflessly provided the data and who are doing the lookups who deserve the real thanks. So I would like to publicly thank all the people that have made valuable contributions to the website (and list). I was thinking of publicly naming them and a dozen names quickly sprang to mind. Another dozen would be easy to find by a quick scroll through the website. Then I would have to make a cut off point and risk offending someone. So I will leave my special thanks as anonymous and thank all the list and website submitters. And you are right on the ball. I had forgotten that the list and website were two years old on Saturday 16th March. Happy Birthday. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
