Dear researchers This message is being posted to a number of mailing lists - apologies for cross postings. Archives@Victoria, your new online gateway to the archives of the government of Victoria, will become available on Monday 29 April 2002. The address for Archives@Victoria is www.prov.vic.gov.au/archivesvictoria. Through Archives@Victoria you will be able to register as a PROV user, search PROV catalogues online and request and order records that you wish to view in one of our Reading Rooms. We believe our new system will be of great benefit to all researchers, particularly those from regional Victoria who will be able to order records prior to visiting our Reading Rooms. Please note. No original records will be available in our Reading Rooms during the roll-out period covering Friday and Saturday, 26 and 27 April. Normal service resumes when Archives@Victoria goes live on Monday 29 April. Any original records that you have on order at that time will be returned to our Repository, and you will need to order them again, from Monday 29 April. Public Record Office Victoria regrets this inconvenience, but these arrangements are necessary to ensure a smooth transition from our old to new systems. I will post further details by 29 April. Regards James McKinnon Manager Reference Services Public Record Office Victoria
