27 July 2005 Hi All Am currently reading The Difficulties of my position: The diaries of John Buckley Castieau 1855 1884. It makes for very interesting reading. Have just come across a William ANDERSON who died at Eastern Gaol, Melbourne on 24 October 1855. There was an inquest into the death on Thursday 25th October, 1855. The verdict being that the deceased died from Delirium Tremens. It seems William had a wife and two children. If any one is researching William ANDERSON then contact me off line and Ill give you further details from the book. Anne Hanson
I found this site today. I typed in an ancestors name and something came up from an old newspaper. The site says "Welcome to Old News Copy. Searchable Australian news index. We are an information resource, providing copies of old newspaper articles, that we have indexed, from Victoria, Australia dating as far back as the 1800's. You are able to search our archives and if you see something you like, you can use our order form to purchase that particular article(s)." http://www.oldnewscopy.com/index.htm I have no monetary gain from this site!
