Hi All, Am looking at a 1871 Victorian death certificate and under Birth Place it has BOMB. Have checked the postcode book and the possibilities could be Bombala, NSW, Bombeeta QLD and Bombo, NSW. Does any one out there have any ideas. Cheers Anne Hanson
Checking the small box on the side of the section for birth it comes up as BOM BOMB and BOMBAY no other explanation. Guess it's not much help Anne. Hello Ann, You need to look at the column info "How long in the colony". Usually it gives the number of years in Victoria and other places he may have lived. After reading that, you can usually calculate if he was born in Victoria or overseas: e.g. Bombay, India for a start.
