Good afternoon from sunny Brisbane I have part of a letter written about the journey from England to Sydney and surrounds where the writer and her family stayed for a short time, before heading to Yackandale (sic) on the prettier side of the Murray river where her sister lived. She doesn't mention the name of the sister, but the family was THROWER. Has anyone come across this name in the northeast before. I'm looking for Robert and Mary Thrower and family. They had young children, and the year would have been 1852-53. It would appear the parents had a child in Beechworth (registration) in 1857. regards Denise
Hi Denise, I think that you will find that the THROWER family moved to NSW. Had a quick look at the NSW disk, and daughter to THROWER Robert Gordon and Mary (nee DAWSON ) born Beechworth 1857 Reg. 3950, married THROWER Rebecca Letitia m GOODMAN George Frederwick. Sydney 1876 THROWER Robert G died 1874 Reg. 4952. Parents James and Elizabeth. There are also deaths for a couple of sons. If you go the the NSW BDM on line, you can check this out also. Thanks Pat, Yes I found that they went back. The father died in 1874 in Goulburn where it seems many of them married and had children. A search on Google found Throwers still in the area. I am hoping to make a connection with someone in northeast who may know what the father did - maybe he was employed and someone on the list may have the name in their records, or family tree. Trying every avenue to find them during those years.
