    3. As early as 1859 J A Bevan & Co. (if this the same one as you are after) ran in conjunction with Watson & Hewitt and Crawford & Co. from Albury to Melbourne , under the banner of The Telegraph Line of Mail Coaches - which originally was a part of Cobb & Co. Anne what was the name of the employee you write about. I suggest the best thing would be to start with the local newspapers or the Melbourne papers. In these if you find advertisements, you will get the routes fares and if lucky, you may find the mail contracts if the company won any - mail contracts also in the Gov. Gazette. Look at early in the year to start with. They were usually a yearly contract but from 1881 it went to a three yearly contract. regards Denise ----- Original Message ----- From: "Anne Hanson" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, May 19, 2005 5:47 PM Subject: [AVNE] General Enquiry - Bevan & Co. > Hi Fellow Listers, > > I'd be grateful if someone could point me in the direction of where I can > find information about Bevan & Co., who operated a coach company similar > to > Cobb & Co.
