Hi all Some general information which I hope will clarify why sometimes we see bdm registrations cross referenced. It is a simple matter of when the paper work reaches the Registrar. ie the event may have occurred in 1860 but not registered until 1865 so we would see 2 entries thus 1860 1234x1865, (1860=yr of event, 1234 regn#,1865=yr of registration) 1865 1234 (the year of registration & regn#) This does NOT indicate the event was registered twice or re-registration has occurred. There will ever only be the ONE certificate. I guess delays in getting the paper work to the official department occurred for various reasons in the early days of colonisation. We must be thankful the majority did reached the destination & for those that took 'a little longer' be thankful that they did get there.... eventually. Regards Chris
