Good afternoon all After deliberation, we have decided it was time to reveal to you all our latest project; a project never before undertaken. As many of you are aware, Denise has over the past 6 years tracked her Hiram through his many adventures, his family, his successful business ventures, the one most familiar to us all - his coaching firm. Along the way it became obvious to Denise that many men like her American born Hiram came to Australia and contributed to the development of this colony, in particular Victoria, in the Northeast. A lengthy list of men has been collected (and continues to grow). These men have either been born in the US or Canada, or at some stage lived in America. For whatever reason, they migrated to Australia during the gold rush days and either settled in the Northeast, Vic area, or perhaps only lingered for a short time, having made their fortune and perhaps then returned to their native land. Quite some time ago, Denise asked for my help in tracking these men and ultimately, compiling a 'story' on each. A huge challenge, but at the same time proving to be extremely interesting and rewarding. Oh my gosh, my undercover operations have just been revealed!! We believe these are the 'forgotten ones' in the history of Northeast Victoria, and no matter how large or small, their contribution has played a valuable role in shaping what we have today. We are now seeking anyone who may have ancestors who fall within our 'guidelines' or have men who served in the Civil War to make contact. Our current list is lengthy; so we may already have your man.....we are happy to share what we have with those who think there maybe a connection. In exchange we would hope for mutual sharing. In some cases, for the men and women we have so far tackled, we have made contact with descendants of the family or their siblings, in America and Canada. Our aim is to have not only a valuable resource tool, but also a wonderful read ready for the public sometime in 2006, although at times this seems most unrealistic!!! We shall look forward to the rush of emails, however please understand our task is enormous and we have not yet tackled all those on our list. Hello "Dynamic Duo", I have one for you, a William Alexander BLAKE, from Cincinatti. He and his first wife, Elizabeth Rogerson were have children in Seymour, Yea etc. in the 1880s. Elizabeth died and he later married my great aunt, Phillis MADDERN ...... hence my interest. Shall hunt up the info for you. Good luck with the project. Kindest Regards ......
