    3. Hi Cheryl, My Mum was adopted by her paternal grandparents almost a year after her birth. I didn't start tracing the family tree until after Mum died but it was still difficult as there were still living relatives that could be upset by this "skeleton in the closet". My Great Uncle (whom I always thought of as Mum's brother) became ill. I did phone him on one occasion to see how he was and deliberately didn't mention the family tree. He asked me where I was up to with this puzzle of Mum's real parents. I gave him up to date information on all I'd found but said that I had no proof of whom the father was but suspected his eldest brother. He said to me "My God strike me down if I'm telling a lie, but you are right"..... Prior to this, he was adamant that my Mother was his little sister and that was all there was to it. I was able to track down some of the information by contacting: Department of Human Services Adoption Section 555 Collins St. Melbourne You will need to send proof of death etc....and a letter explaining why you want this information. One thing I am curious about.......did you get a copy of the birth certificate/s ? Jackie Q
