    3. Hello Anne, The Rosehill Dairy was at the restored old Brewer home on the Beechworth - Wooragee road at one time it had " Rising Sun" on the gate, the" Rising Sun" was much further down the road, that was the "Long Hill " John Brewer operated the milk delivery round from there, he milked cows at Wooragee ,took the milk there in the evening and put the cans in the spring in the paddock to keep it cool overnight, legend was that if milk production was a bit low a bit of pure spring water may leak into the cans over night. I wonder if the Blewitt's were part of the Brewer clan they came from Penzance as my ancestors did,John Brewer and my Great Grand Father married sisters of Richard Warren. I wonder too if the little one is buried there as they were in Wooragee, perhaps just one more long forgotten grave. There is a photo of the Brewer home and family in the Burke Museum. Regards, Alan French .

    3. Hi Alan, Nice to hear from you. I'm hoping Ronda has seen your e-mail as I know Blewitt is one of her names so hopefully she'll be able to help re the possible Blewitt-Brewer connection. I spent a lot of hours at the Burke Museum this week peering at the 1863 O & M microfilm - that is where the bits and pieces I posted came from. I also have one which haven't typed up yet where a dairyman Daniel Farrell had a narrow escape from being bitten by a death adder. Death adder is the newspaper's words not mine. This apparently took place in Sebastopol in the middle of Winter. What sort of snake might it have been? Have you any idea why the Rosehill Dairy was given the name Rosehill - just curious. I will certainly ask to have a look at the photo of the Brewer home and family the next time I am at the Burke.
