Hello List, After years of getting wonderful help and advice from this list I am at last in a position to offer some assistance in return. I have just purchased the Victorian Probate index 1853-1888, and after an initial setback in which I didn't read the article description properly and received in the mail a set of microfiche rather than a cd ( the quick ebay purchase of a twenty dollar microfiche reader soon sorted out that minor problem), I can now offer lookups for listers. The location of a probate number then allows the will in question to be looked up online at the prov.vic site where old wills are progressively being added for online viewing. I have tonight downloaded and read the wills of some of my Bourkes and a Hughan- fascinating reading! I have a weekend of watching children play rugby, but should have plenty of spare time in the next week to get any lookups done. Jen

To Dear Jen, I wonder if it would still be possible to do look ups for me in the probate index? William Babington Rowe died 22 May 1866 in Growlers Creek John King Jamieson died 20 Nov 1880 in Wahgunyah Thomas Kane died 1 Feb 1875 in Greta Henry Lowerson died in about 1871 in Myrtleford I would be very interesting in getting hold of the wills for these people if they exists. Thanks in Advance (if I'm not too late), Robyn Kane The Netherlands >Many Thanks Elizabeth Hello List, > After years of getting wonderful help and advice from >this list I am at last in a position to offer some assistance in >return. Hi Robyn, At one stage when I wasn't working I ordered Thomas KANE's inquest, and transcribed it as best I could - some of the writing was very hard to understand. I seem to have partly typed it into a Word document, and now I have no idea where the original transcription might be (I've moved and haven't sorted out a lot of my notes yet!) I can send you the doc, or paste the text into an email to the group if anyone else is interested. regards Kaye At 10:19 PM 21/08/2007 +0200, you wrote: >To Dear Jen, > >I wonder if it would still be possible to do look ups for me in the >probate index? > >William Babington Rowe died 22 May 1866 in Growlers Creek >John King Jamieson died 20 Nov 1880 in Wahgunyah >Thomas Kane died 1 Feb 1875 in Greta >Henry Lowerson died in about 1871 in Myrtleford > >I would be very interesting in getting hold of the wills for these >people if they exists. > >Thanks in Advance (if I'm not too late), > >Robyn Kane >The Netherlands > > > >Many Thanks Elizabeth Hello List, > > After years of getting wonderful help and advice from > >this list I am at last in a position to offer some assistance in > >return.
