    3. Benalla 15th jan 1940 The Sun William Edmonstone 7 of Benalla was drowned about 7 pm yesterday. After tea the boy with a brother and a sister decided to give their dog a swin in a lagoon near the Hollands branch Creek. William Edmonstone undressed and went in on the dogs back. He lost his grip and sank in about 10 feet of water. His body was recovered by Mr Edward Brown about half an hour later but resusitation treatment failed. Wodonga 8th May 1937 The Sun Joan Clark 3 daughter of Mr and Mrs Barry Clark of bonegilla was severely scalded and is now an inmate of Sister Hughes hospital. Mrs Clark had been filling a washing machine with boiling water and had turned her back for a moment when the child apparently attempted to climb up on the machine. It was overturned on her scalding her extensively. More later
