    3. Thank you for that Bill. I have John TERRY's death certificate (that too is very hard to read) but it Says he was buried on 10 Dec 1854 at Benalla by (William?) Phillips. The witness of the burial looks like it could be Sub- Inspector Reid. The cause of death is a bit of a mystery as well, it looks like it reads Disease of the heart produced by exertion at a fence- Death quiet sudden - No medical attendant at the death" . Then 5 months later his wife marries William Henry Frederick HUNT, in the Profession column it says what looks like "Publican & Farmer in England now A shepherd". I have never seen certificates like these before and if you want a copy I Will gladly send them to you if you think they will help with your look-ups. Like you said it makes me want to scream, I have searched for months for Them in NSW and then find they hop over the border and their certificates Have got all the info on them but too hard to read. Will wait until Tuesday. A million thank you's for your offer. Lynne

    3. Hi Lynne, As the Sexton at Benalla Cemetery I am very interested in your Terry burial at Benalla. He is not on our records, but then I estimate about 1500 others who were buried pre 1900 are also missing. I am collecting information on those who "should be at Benalla" and would be grateful for a copy of his Death Certificate. If you are able to scan a copy and e-mail it to me it would be most appreciated. In conjunction with the Benalla Family History Group ( Bill Willett is corresponding with you) and the Benalla Secondary College VCAL students of 2006, the Cemetery has erected two gardens known as the "Gardens of Memories". People who have a relative known to be buried at Benalla, but whose plot is unknown may purchase a plaque and have it placed on the retaining wall of the Garden of Memories.
