    3. Yes it is dreadful, the good samaratin and all that. However it should be noted that he foolishly did not seek medical treatment for the bite. I wonder how may of our ancestors were involved in preventable deaths? - Excluding Wars of course. Some of the deaths recorded on my certificates are interesting. I presume that the more "bizzare" or accidental would garner the more news paper coverage. I have a great great uncle, James Patrick Cummins who drowned at Benalla along with a work colleague in a boating accident in 1908. He was a Police Constable and the accident garnered quite a bit of newspaper activity over 3 newspapers. I am about to go looking for the death of my G Grand father who was a jockey and who died during a race from a fall. School holidays has interrupted that line of research. Any one else with deaths/accidents that make the paper? There was a man killed in NSW within the last 6 months by one, sorry I can't narrow it down, but it was on the ABC news in Canberra. He thought that a dog was harrassing a blue tongue lizard and after calling off the dog he picked up the "lizard" to see if it had been injured. The snake bit him and he died soon after. Here is a link of information about the snake for those interested. http://www.reptilepark.com.au/animals.asp?catID=16&ID=106 Have a good day Tia in raining (finally) Canberra ----- Original Message ---- From: bruce johnson <brucej@alphalink.com.au> To: aus-vic-ne@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, 5 July, 2007 12:08:46 AM Subject: Re: [AVNE] Daniel FARRELL & the Death Adder - From the Ovens & MurrayAdvertiser July 23 1863 oz has about 7-8 realy deadly snakes, if i remember my old school days the death adder is a small snake but very deadly ----- Original Message ----- From: "Anne Hanson" <ahanson8@bigpond.com> To: "AUS-VIC-NE-L" <AUS-VIC-NE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, July 03, 2007 5:55 PM Subject: [AVNE] Daniel FARRELL & the Death Adder - From the Ovens & MurrayAdvertiser July 23 1863 > NARROW ESCAPE FROM A DEATH ADDER > > A dairyman, named Daniel Farrell, living below Sebastopol, had a very narrow > escape a few days since from being bitten by a death adder.
