    3. Anne, I think Castieau mentions it fairly early in his book (the one I borrowed from you). I think he was a founding member of the club when he was Governor of Beechworth Prison.     3. Thanks Peter, as usual you are right - I've just checked the book you refer to below and yes, it was obviously some sort of mens' club. Oh by the way, if anyone is interested in the history of Beechworth prison I got hold of a book yesterday called 'H.M. Prison Beechworth, The End of an Era, 1856 - 2004.' It is an interesting little book and is not terribly complimentary of Castieau in parts. The book was published by Corrections Victoria in March 2006. My only criticism would be that while there is a Table of Contents there is no Index which just drives me crazy.
