    1. Re: [AVNE] Book release
    2. Congratulations Judy! This will be a wonderful addition to not only the Kelly story but also that of the North East. A focus on the victims of the Kelly exploits over the years is long overdue. 2. Peter Lakeman
    3. My thanks to Jackie and Robert for identifying the shire as Oxley. Apparently from the certificate, Oxley is a possible (though not certain) reading of the parish. So I think it is a fair guess to assume the place was Moyhu in the Shire of Oxley and not the first guess of Moyner/Moyher in the Shire of Cerley. Cheers Peter ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ >Could Cerley be Oxley? 3. Hi Alan, I would love to have the list of the names of tunellers from the Beechworth RSL. If you have a name safe on it then that is a name I have not got on my list! I know you won't forget my photo, just get yourself fit and well for now. All the best. Shire of Cerley? Hello again listers, One of the placenames in the list of Sharon's spares that I have just mentioned looks something like Moyher or Moyner in the Shire of Cerley. According to the BDM the birth is listed as occurring at Wangaratta, so it is in that vicinity. I am guessing that it should really be Moyhu (about 25km south of Wangaratta). Does anyone have a birth or death cert for a rellie that would have occurred in Moyhu in the 1890s? If so, can you please look and see if Moyhu is in the Shire of Cerley, and whether there were spelling variations for Moyhu? 3. Jenny hi. Daniel Michael O'Connor (used the O'Connor version) son of Michael Connor and Annie Collins. Michael was born in Tipperary County Ireland and came to Australia via America. He had a brother John Connor. ------------- At the same time there was another Daniel O'Connor ( I believe he was Daniel Charles O'Connor) in Beechworth who was involved in various public bodies, I do not believe a connection to Michael Connor exists. I've just checked Pioneers of the Ovens & Townsmen of Beechworth for you Jenny and this Daniel was son of Daniel and Charlotte Elizabeth (Campbell). He did not marry. Regards Denise -- Hi Jenny Daniel Michael, the coachbuilder, is part of the American research Denise & I are starting to windup. I don't believe he descends from Daniel & Charlotte Campbell, but as he is part of Denise's clan, I'm sure when she gets back on line, shortly, she will be in touch. 2. Wendy
    3. Hi Lesley, I saw your recent email re the John MILNE for whom Judy was looking, however, he is not the one buried in Beechworth cemetery. He was the son of Edward and Ellen Milne from Myrtleford. My maiden name was MILNE so I would be very interested to hear where your mother's family fits in, if she does... There were at least three different MILNE families in the N/E in the early days. I am searching for a John MILNE who disappeared (probably died) somewhere between 1850 and 1874 - if she can be of any help it would be fantastic. Cheers, Wendy

    2. Hi Bruce The Tea Garden Creek is on the Markwood side of Pioneer Bridges (Ovens River) rather than in the township of Everton. I found a mention of a flour mill being built on the Tea Garden Creek at the site of the current township of Markwood. So perhaps the hotel was in that area. The name is familiar to Mum so she is going to see if she can track it down in some references she has. Stay tuned .... regards Dianne
