    1. [AVNE] Fulford / Fahey - brick wall
    2. Hi Everyone I'm hoping someone can help with the 'brick wall' I've hit regarding my gg grandparents. 'Facts' I have - FULFORD, Mary Ann According to her death record she was born c. 1858 at Tarrawingee, Victoria, and parents were George FULFORD, farmer, and Mary Ann SHEEDY. She died Narrandera in 1928 and was the widow of John Henry ALLEN (2nd husband) As I haven't been able to find her birth record, and thereby, hopefully information on other family members, I ordered her marriage record for her 1st husband (my gg grandfather), Martin Keenan FAHEY. Unfortunately age, parents, birthplace, for both Mary Ann and Martin aren't listed. The only bit of extra information I gained was that they were married at St Patrick's, Albury, on 1 Sept 1875 and that the witnesses were William and Mary DYBALL. I do know that an Elizabeth FULFORD married a William DYBALL but don't know if there is any connection with my lot. FAHEY, Martin Keenan According to his death record, he was born in Ireland, and had lived for 30 years in Victoria. Parents were John FAHEY, publican, and Leonora KEENAN. He died Wodonga in 1879 at the age of 34 and the informant was a John FULFORD. I'm guessing his brother-in-law. I've been unable to find immigration records for Martin or his parents. Does anyone have any hints on where I go to from here? Any thoughts gratefully received. Regards Pamela

    3. Hi listers I have a bit of a brickwall It is my ANNIE WILSON born 1859 at Campbells Creek Victoria. I am trying to figure out who she may have married.I don`t want to buy a certs that aren`t her till I try to find a contact on the list.I have found all of her siblings and she is the only one left. She was ANNIE and not Ann or Anna and she was 10 at the time of her mothers death and she is listed on her fathers death cert in 1900. (on this cert it doesn`t state whether she is dead or alive) I am assuming she was still alive. Maybe ,just maybe there might be someone who knows of her. Gail

    1. Re: [AVNE] I need help
    2. Jeff & Carol Ahern
    3. Hello Caroline, It looks as if you have a bit of a mystery on your hands already! Here is John's birth. There is a sister Ellen born which is likely to have been while parents George and Ellen were unmarried as there are 2 equivalent birth entries, one under KING and one under QUINN. KING, John CB 1112013 Birth Father: George Mother: Quinn Ellen Event Place: Bena Reg Year: 1875 Reg State: Victoria Ref Number: 7248 KING, Ellen CB 1110381 Birth Father: George Mother: Quinn Ellen Event Place: B'Alla Reg Year: 1874 Reg State: Victoria Ref Number: 747R QUINN, Ellen CB 1699425 Birth Father: Unknown Mother: Quinn Ellen Event Place: Benalla Reg Year: 1874 Reg State: Victoria Ref Number: 747 Now, the only marriage for a George KING to an Ellen (any surname) that I can find is as below which would fit in with the idea that the birth of their first child might have slightly preceded their marriage. However, we have Ellen as a KELLY - so the next question is, might Ellen have been a widow when she married George. If so, one would expect (or hope!) to find a KELLY/Ellen QUINN combination...see below. KING, George CM 526047 Marriage Spouse: KELLY, Ellen Marriage Place: Antrim **this is the place of birth of one of the parties Reg Year: 1874 Reg State: Victoria Ref Number: 940 KELLY, Catherine CB 1081582 Birth Father: John Mother: Quinn Ellen Event Place: Beve Reg Year: 1863 Reg State: Victoria Ref Number: 14908 KELLY, Ellen CB 1082461 Birth Father: John Mother: Quin Ellen Event Place: Bena Reg Year: 1870 Reg State: Victoria Ref Number: 13907 KELLY, Grace CB 1083038 Birth Father: John Mother: Quin Ellen Event Place: Aven Reg Year: 1865 Reg State: Victoria Ref Number: 19822 KELLY, Mary Jane EB 1085379 Christening Sex: Female Father: John Mother: Quinn Ellen Event Place: Kilmore Reg Year: 1851 Reg State: Victoria Ref Number: 35053 Parish: Kilmore, RC There are 2 Ref. Numbers for John and Ellen's marriage... KELLY, John EM 512366 Marriage Spouse: QUINN, Ellen Reg Year: 1850 Reg State: Victoria Ref Number: 985 Parish: St Francis, RC KELLY, John EM 512367 Marriage Spouse: QUINN, Ellen Reg Year: 1850 Reg State: Victoria Ref Number: 40951 Parish: St Francis, RC There is also this death of a son whose birth/christening record I can't locate. KELLY, Daniel CD 468837 Death Father: John Mother: Quinn Ellen Age at Death: 19 Birthplace: U Reg Year: 1880 Reg State: Victoria Ref Number: 4380 I can't locate the death of a George KING to 1888 there being too many of them to see who is who. Nor is there the death of an Ellen KING nee QUINN to that year. The above is a 'best guess' of the scenario, however with names such as KING/QUINN & KELLY it is probably best to confirm the above via Certificates. For example, you could go for Ellen KELLY's marriage to George KING as this will give both sets of parents' names to see if Ellen KELLY was a QUINN. Or perhaps John's Birth Certificate as this should list all older siblings - however, I have known when it was a second marriage that the children from the first marriage weren't listed. Or Ellen's Death Certificate which should list all children. Hope that this helps and if there is anything that you would like me to look for, the entries are from the Australian Vital Records Index which is to 1888 in Vic & NSW, to 1899 in Tas and to 1905 in WA. 2. GARY & CAROLE MATTHEWS
    3. Hello NE listers, I am just re-joining after being off the list for some time. Some may remember that I was researching a connection my MATTHEWS family had with the Seven Creeks area in the 1870/80's, and that I wrote without success to the present managemnt there. A few months ago I called into the Shire offices at Euroa to look at old rate books, but due to renovations they weren't available. The lady there offered to look up any reference to Matthews owning or renting land in the period concerned, but unfortunately it didn't happen. (The story in the family is that the children "went to school with the Kelly's") As I live in Gippsland I don't get up to the NE very often I wondered whether the local historical society may have copies or access to these early records? I was speaking to Lorretta MacPherson quite some time ago, but not sure if she is still involved. Just noticing mention of the BIO's project. This may not have relevance to me, but would it be possibele for someone to briefly copy the detail of the earlier advice on this? regards, Gary Matthews Jeeralang
