Thank you Anne for the information you sent me on the murder at Indigo Creek. To the list I have two questions and hope someone can answer them. Indigo diggings must have been around Wooragee and Balck Dog Creek??? same area. Can someone describe please just where these were in relation to the township of Wooragee itself. My maps etc here do not show it. Thanks Denise

Not to worry. Perhaps I should have explained that I would really like to have an old fashioned photograph, not a scanned from a book image, in this case. Ooooh! Around 1850-60 - there were a number of infants/toddlers. They are all in a family plot. Sad story. Denise has offered to take photo on her 'circus tour', but I figured she would have enough on her plate. I have suggested she (and fellow travellers) act as back up to you - but she may see your query on the list and add more detail. Thank you Joan - I truly appreciate your assistance. At this moment I plan just to have the photo in my Family Tree photo album, but might write about this little lot later (that was a nice little passage of alliteration). Will you also add your permission for your photo to be printed in my story (appropriately cited, of course), to satisfy copyright requirements? My gratitude.... Listers hi. I decided that I should get up and do some real work last weekend and dug into the cupboard for my "coffin" the box in which I have stored my dead files on HIram research. Files I've used. When I was going thru them I found several things which were interesting to other research I am doing and started to read it again. I've been doing this at night, at work in my lunch break and then coming home and working on it. If I can, I suggest people - pull all your research out and look at it again. You see things from different angles a second third and fourth time. I find that I understand the information better, things click together easier. I found a lot of papers on rates sent to me so kindly by Geoffrey Craig from Stanley one day. I thought I might post the names for anyone who may have them in their tree, and I will then happily tell you about the property. Good luck - There is a lot on the Commercial Hotel and its various owners over the years. If the names are repeated it is because I am going thru lots of pages and as I list, ones I remember I don't repeat, but others I do. sorry. So if your names appears it may appear a few times - remind me. My GGrandparents, John FERGUSON and Grace KERR migrated from Scotland in 1852. They tried their luck on the Beechworth goldfields before selecting land on the Oxley plains - Bobinawarrah and Milawa. Later John's brothers, George Welsh FERGUSON and Douglas Wills FERGUSON joined them. I have information about each of these families which I would gladly share with any FERGUSON researchers. I am hoping someone on the list has this book which as compiled by Capt H Morin Humphreys. Someone in the book is a reference to Hiram Crawford and mentions his helping Captain Cadell build a boat to explore the Murray. Does anyone have this and happy to do a look up for me please? regards Denise
