I sent this at about 9pm our time. I am looking for WOOR which I know is short for Wooragee, but it is also short for other places. Makes it a tad difficult when researching names which crop up all over the place - hard to eliminate possibilities in the families. So whilst thinking about this I realised my bookmarked online site has only a handful of names and of no use. Any site you can suggest would be great. I have other places from time to time that I need to look up. Denise NSW has asked us via the other list to correct a typo in her Bio. Denise Mascaro's bio should read CLOHESSY not CLOHEEEESY. I haven't seen a post to this list about this. I've suggested if anyone has found a typo in their Bio, to let us all know via the list. We can pencil the correct things in. And one from mine.......a typo. should be photographY for photograph. Sorry, and such a big error! and not relevant to research. Denise McMahon QLD ----- Original Message -----

I have a question and hope someone may know the answer. Iam endeavour to locate a hotel in Beechworth in 1854 called Beechworth Arms -as per my email last night-. My question is - in the early days of Beechworth, say for the first half dozen years, was it compulsory to have a license to run a hotel -whatever form it was in, a tent, building, slab etc.? When did licenses come in? Denise

Is anyone researching the Perkins family of the north east? 1856+ Oliver and Sarah (GEE) PERKINS had 6 children. 2 died within a day of birth 1 survived two months 1 survived on year 1 died at 6 weeks and one survived. It seems a sad story, altho not uncommon. I would be interested to hear if anyone knows more about this family. Denise
