Hi Listers, I'm looking for the birthdates & places for my mothers siblings. Her name was Helen Withers & she was born at Myrtleford about 1910.Her sisters name was Poppy & there were three brothers Charles,Robert & Lindsay. Her fathers name was Robert William Withers & mothers name,Ada Beatrice Caroline Withers (nee Scott). They were married in Wangaratta in 1905.I believe that they had a dairy farm somewhere between Beechworth & Myrtleford up to around 1929 but am not certain of this.I can vaguely recall my mum talking about Mt.Buffalo so it could have been near there.I would be very grateful if someone out there can furnish some help. 3. Oh, Joy - what a shame your trip was spoiled. I know panic attacks, as do my children. I believe my mother may also have been prone to these wretched events. I am most appreciative of your efforts, especially under the circumstances. Did you, by chance, mention my requests to anyone else? I ask because in today's mail there is an explanation re the name Dandongadale, sent to the NE list, not to me personally, and I wondered about it. When I opened up your mail, I was sad but not surprised to read your news. I do hope you have recovered. I really don't know what to expect from a Family History Society - I guess it depends on what sort of records were left as to what they might have, and so will vary from place to place. I hope the rest of the circus were not too let down. Keep well Cheers, Nandina --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). 3. Hi Nandina, "Fraid it was me that came home too. I was supposed to stop for dinner, as I believe was Peter. But as the day went on I began to panic and just had to get home. Awful feeling. Anyway I did some research for you but didn't have a great deal of luck. The girls there were most helpful. We could find no reference to the property...Maustan,Dandongadale. I was surprised at the lack of research material that the Wang. group has. Makes ours look like the State Library. That left only cemetery records to look at, and even then they only had headstones. There was no reference to Maud's burial.....no headstone anyway. I copied all BERRY's buried, with headstones in the Wang cemetery which I will forward as soon as I type them up.....all fairly recent ones...1955 was the oldest grave. We headed for the cemetery & intended taking some photos for you but Oh dear...what a mess. Even though I had site numbers it was almost impossible to find anything. I didn't get to the lawn section. Dianne Carroll has volunteered to photograph all graves for them at some stage. If you go to http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com and do a search for BERRY you will find the Wangaratta lot there. and a contact person for this family in Wang is Kristine BERRY 5 Adams Street Wangaratta I will send the other to you in the next day or so. 2. Peter Lakeman
    3. Hello Pat, Thanks very much for the kind words. As I stated in the welcoming message you would have received when you subscribed to the list and in the preamble, although I have an interest in the area, my personal knowledge of the north east is small. All I can do is to provide the list and the support website. Along with you, I sincerely thank the couple of dozen people that have made the website (and the mailing list) so valuable by providing the material available in the Resources, Spares, Books, Lookups, etc pages. The amount of work they have done in preparing the data for inclusion is huge, and all of this is done with the aim of helping others with little or no chance of furthering their own research. It is not just the preparation of the initial data that they have done, but the willingness to help others by their offer to provide further details of this data in the future. I cannot think of one example where someone has asked me to remove their entries (or their contact name from the entry) due to the work involved in answering queries. My work is finished when an entry is uploaded to the website, but theirs continues to go on. So it is the people who have selflessly provided the data and who are doing the lookups who deserve the real thanks. So I would like to publicly thank all the people that have made valuable contributions to the website (and list). I was thinking of publicly naming them and a dozen names quickly sprang to mind. Another dozen would be easy to find by a quick scroll through the website. Then I would have to make a cut off point and risk offending someone. So I will leave my special thanks as anonymous and thank all the list and website submitters. And you are right on the ball. I had forgotten that the list and website were two years old on Saturday 16th March. Happy Birthday. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
