These names are staff members of Crawford and Co - Crawford & Connolly - H. A. Crawford & Co. who have so far been unearthed whilst researching "staff". The company was based in the north east of Victoria but did run under the banner of Cobb and Co. from Melbourne to Albury and from Albury to Wagga Wagg at some stage. The company also ran to Narrandera NSW. Most of the names below were drivers of coaches - horse and coach variety. If you know of anyone else who did drive these routes would you please get in touch? I would be delighted to hear from anyone who connects. Excuse cross posting. regards Denise--- Archie Hill Arthur Kilpatrick George Goodwin Harry Andrews Jack Stapleton H. Chris - if no-one has volunteered, I will be in the State Library in a couple of weeks, and can add this to my list of look ups. Please let me know if your request has already been satisfied, and if not, whether you know of the papers that were searched. I like to be helpful when I can, but have difficulty in being specific regarding days of going in to the city. Dear researchers This message is being posted to a number of mailing lists - apologies for cross postings. Archives@Victoria, your new online gateway to the archives of the government of Victoria, will become available on Monday 29 April 2002. The address for Archives@Victoria is www.prov.vic.gov.au/archivesvictoria. Through Archives@Victoria you will be able to register as a PROV user, search PROV catalogues online and request and order records that you wish to view in one of our Reading Rooms. We believe our new system will be of great benefit to all researchers, particularly those from regional Victoria who will be able to order records prior to visiting our Reading Rooms. Please note. No original records will be available in our Reading Rooms during the roll-out period covering Friday and Saturday, 26 and 27 April. Normal service resumes when Archives@Victoria goes live on Monday 29 April. Any original records that you have on order at that time will be returned to our Repository, and you will need to order them again, from Monday 29 April. Public Record Office Victoria regrets this inconvenience, but these arrangements are necessary to ensure a smooth transition from our old to new systems. I will post further details by 29 April. Regards James McKinnon Manager Reference Services Public Record Office Victoria

Dear List, I was wandering around the web today and found the Vic Museum Big Family Album sites which has a large amount of photos. Website address is www.museum.vic.gov.au/bfa/. Got some good interesting photos when I looked up Beechworth. The other interesting site is the Immigration Museum site, particularly their tribute wall, where people can contribute the details of the first members of their family to arrive in Australia. It has a search facility and has helped me find the arrival of a particularly difficult couple to find. Worth a look, sorry but dont have the web address to hand. "To give zest to the gathering the Tonic Sol-Fa Association will be present and wing several pieces of sacred and other music." And things don't change - El Dorado Disfranchised. It is rather too much of a good thing that the people of El Dorado h ave been twice disfranchised without any fault of their own. It appears that some hundred elecotrs took out Electoral rights for the Murray district; but by some incomprehensible mistake they did not appear on the roll. We trust that our new members will look after this matter in the House, and remember that the El Dorado, both geographically and through its interests belongs to the Beechworth division. Here endeth the newspaper copies I made on the circus!!!! All of the last few emails have been taken from these copies and if you are interested contact me shortly for they will be filed away without referencing. I won't be able to look up names then. They were taken from snippets, articles and ads. That's all folks Denise
