Hi everyone, Could I have a look-up for births for this couple, please? James Galt ORR m Mary Jessie WEEKES in 1874. I don't know where. She was born in Melbourne, and he was born in Scotland. He died in 1889 in Fitzroy, Melbourne. James was a prominent Beechworth auctioneer, the births could have been in that area. Any help will be much appreciated. Best wishes, Jill
Hi Denise, Thanks once again, just quickly, it seems we've found another one, Thomas H ORR,orchardist, could be Thomas Hunter ORR, probably. b.1843, d. 1907, Malvern, Vic. Thanks very much for giving so much of your time to me and others on the list. Best wishes, Jill.
Jill, at the moment I am scanning thru the Ovens and Murray Advertiser for 1881 so keep looking - I'll let you know if I see the name Denise

Hi Jill, I had this obit and info in my files. It may help. I'm at work and can't look up any of my books though. Hi Kaye, That's great news for me, this is my family, William's brother was James Galt ORR. So it would appear my William, MLA and former Mayor of Wangaratta, went to Broken Hill? Then he must have come back to Melbourne, he died in 1919 at Armadale. The two stories in folk lore are that the ORR's were racing people in Vic., and also had a hand in setting up Mt. Isa Mines, in Qld. I'm getting closer to the racing, hunting a connection with Charles F.ORR. and now perhaps the mining connections, William might have got involved in that. Certainly food for thought. Too many William ORR's though!!! Many thanks for your help and interest, Jill
Hi Denise, That's wonderful, Kaye has sent me some more details, and this certainly is my William, he had a brother James Galt ORR. If you come across the name ORR in your records anywhere, I'd be appreciative of any news you can give me please. I'd say the Mrs. W. ORR snr, who gave the carved oak pulpit might have been Wm's mother, ( the MLA) she left Qld to live in Vic after 1881, and died in Wangaratta in 1908. J. ORR, MP could have been James Galt ORR. Thanks for your great help with this family, I's so happy to be this far with them, and they are g/grand uncles/aunts, direct lines too, not some twig. Best wishes, Jill

Hi Robyn, Thanks for letting me know about the above town. Cheers, Jill.
Hi Everyone, I'm trying to tie my William ORR in with the William ORR who was Mayor of Wangaratta and an auctioneer there also, cir 1880. My William was b. 1843 in Scotland. He had a twin brother, Thomas Hunter ORR. And 7 other siblings. William married Mary Fraser, from Ellengowan, in 1878. ?where. He died in 1929 at Armadale, Vic. If anyone can help with a look-up for any children of this couple, I'd be very grateful. I am also thinking William might be the father of Charles F Orr, who was a racing identity. Many thanks for your help, Jill, Brisbane.

Hoping I am in the right area! I was baptized in 1936 at St. Pauls, Corop.
