Hi all, I live in Wodonga, Victoria which is 20 mins drive away from Bethanga. I'll take a trip out there this afternoon (Fri 4 Mar) to check out the gravestones for these two queries. Doug, I will see if my mum might be able to assist with transcribing the headstones for these people for you. She lives nearby. John, Oh dear !!! This is very unfortunate information. It's a shame it wasn't picked up sooner, but it appears there are duplicate family trees on ROOTSWEB for the Kneebones plus more. You have somehow missed a much earlier tree where my PHILLIPS lot are connected. And sadly the infamous Julianne Richards cannot be located at the email address given. She has done a wonderful job of all of this back in 2002, however I have been looking out for her ever since to correct some inaccuracies. To discover the Kneebones all over again, start here http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:2127679&id=I53 Cheers, Rob http://storeyphillips.netfirms.com From: Barton Cottage <[email protected]> Subject: [AVNE] ROWE/KNEEBONE/PHILLIPS/STORY Date: Sun, 15 Feb 2004 11:43:30 +1100 There have been a few references on the list to these names lately and some of you might be interested in looking at the site below where I have put up what I know of the descendants of John ROWE and Mary WALLIS who married in Madron, Cornwall, in 1808. Three of their children migrated to Australia in the 1840s/50s with their families and settled around Beechworth. http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=Rowe-Wallis-desc&I11.x=31&I11.y=7 Cheers, John Burgess
Hi Jackie, I have finally made it back on here after being tied up with moving, building, studying, and having another child. I hope that my mum might be able to check this out for you at some stage, but no guarantees. I will let you know. Cheers, Rob in Brisbane http://storeyphillips.netfirms.com From: Jackie <[email protected]> Subject: Bethanga Burial Date: Tue, 27 Apr 2004 18:14:00 +1000 Hi all, I've just received a gedcom from a family member and there is a slight anomaly. I am hoping someone can check it out for me please. Christiana MITCHELL (nee SIRL) died 29 April or May 1924 and buried at Bethanga. I have a photo of the grave but I can't see what the inscription is. It's a huge crypt with (from memory 6 or 8 people buried there). I looks a bit like a roman building with 4 pillars at each corner of the roof. However, the roof doesn't completely cover the base. If anyone can check for me and would like a photo to make it easier to find, please email me off list. Jackie QLD

Their children were born with the surname COLLINS in Stanley namely Cornelius William 1858 - 1932 Ferdinand 1860 - 1938 Mary Cornelia 1862 - 1950 Joseph 1863-1929 Julia Chancellor 1864-1869 Charles Elisha Chancellor 1867-1869 Elizabeth Susana 1868 - 1869 Edward 1871-1871 Emily Alice Chancellor 1872 - John 1875-1875 Thomas 1875-1875 Albert 1879-1946. I'm hoping someone else is also intersested or descended from this family. Cheers Ruth Chancellor

Hello everyone, I've been sent some names by a kind lister, and 'I'm wondering if I can get a little more help please? This is what I have:- >In the Victorian Electoral Roll for Federal Referendum 1899 there are a couple of pages of Orrs - so from the northeast - ORR Thomas H, Wangaratta Orchardist<<, Another of those ORR men I'm searching was Thomas Hunter ORR was b. Scotland 1843, and died Malvern Vic. 1907. Parents William ORR and Jane/Jean HUNTER. That's all I know of him so far, ?? wife, children. Would it be possible, by some means, to find out the full name of the Orchardist, wife, perhaps if he died in Wangaratta?? that would certainly help to identify if he is mine. Any little help or hints will be very much appreciated. Many thanks to everyone for much help recently, Jill
