    3. Dear Jon, The Kilmore Historical Society may be help to you. See: www.kilmorehistory.info. See also Kilmore Footsteps: http://www.users.bigpond.com/peter_pidgeon/kilmore_footsteps.htm Your contribution welcome. "Kilmore on the Sydney Road" by Maya Tucker refers only to a Mr FINN of "Finn and Company brewers who were on Mitchell Street" (in about 1860). There is also a book you might like to follow up: "The Flour Mills of Victoria 1840-1990" by Lewis and Peggy JONES. 3. Sorry for the off-list request but I need a little help. In MAy 1880 a benefit concert was put on in the Anthenaeum Hall in Melbourne for the family of T. Gorman who died from typhoid and left a wife and 3 small children. The interesting social value of this event is that he was a leading footballer for Carlton and a 1st cousin (3times removed) cousin of mine wrote a great poem for the event which we have a copy of. I am trying to prepare a story around the life of T Gorman and need any BDM info that is avaiable from the Pioneer Index thanks Jon Patrick ---------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using IMP, the Internet Messaging Program.

    3. I am interested to know if anyone has any information on Peter NASH and Augusta RUNGE married 1885. I have the details of their 11 children births, most of them born in Chiltern. Also any information on Augusta's parents Julius RUNGE and Hanorah GORMAN, most of their children seem to have been born in CHiltern also. Julius Runge died in Chiltern in 1902. This research is for a friend who is a descendant. Regards Judy

    3. Hi Joy I have just discovered where Barwo is. It was listed as a place of birth for two children in a family - one in 1900 and the other in 1901. The name is KLEESH and later, in 1909, Andrew Kleesh was working as a blacksmith in Tungamah. I was interested in any history of Barwo. I wondered what Andrew might have been working at there. Whether it used to be bigger than it is now. Also, what is there now. 3. Hello Peter Thanks for the reply. It was my mistake to assume that BARWO as the place of birth on the Digger index for children born in 1900 and 1901 was Barwon. The family were in Tungamah in 1909 when one of the children died. Their father was a blacksmith there. I located Barwo on a map, and as you say it is not near Tungamah. But I can't see a nearby town with a name anything like Tungamah. Could you be thinking of Barwo which one would describe as near Nathalia or near Shepparton (to go to the nearest big town)? Tungamah would be about 70km east of Barwo and not what one would normally draw a connection between. What is the connection you have between Barwo(n) and Tungamah? 3. Hi Macca The small cemeteries in NE Vic & Southern NSW (supposedly within a 100k radius of Alb/Wod) have been recorded by a local. A hard copy listing is held by the Albury Library & it is also available on CD. I would suggest you have a look at what has been done...it may save you some time, altho you have spare! Photos & inscriptions would certainly compliment her work. Depending on what you intend to put on your website you may need approval from the governing shires re burial records etc. Contact me off list if you would like further info - you can also give me some tips on how & where to get spare time!!! 3. Hi all, Does anyone on the list know if a transcription has been done of the Bethanga Cemetery? If it hasn't, I am keen to dip my toe into the water and do it myself. Most of my research involves Canada, USA or Scotland and I have got invaluable data from people who have done transcriptions from over there that helped me out, so I thought I'd give a bit back and do some cemeteries in the local area (NE Vic/Sth NSW). I've got spare time, a PDA, a digital camera and space on my website. I'm rearing to go I just need to be pointed in the right direction! I figure Bethanga Cem. is relatively small and it'd be a good intro. After that, I'd do some others around here - anyone have any requests..? Andrew McPhee

    3. Dear Margery I don't think the Misses Phillips had christian names! They always advertised as the Misses Phillips, "The Pines" Railway St. Their house still stands. Just recently I have met 2 other families that lived in Kirkland street. The Yourens and Watts. They ladies are about your age. The Yourens also went to music lessons with the Misses Phillips! The house in Foy street still stands also. I am with the museum at Euroa, also in Kirkland st, Smith's boarding house, the old Farmers' Arms Hotel building. I am interested in anything to do with Euroa please. Where in Kirkland did you live? regards Loretta in Euroa [email protected] Most of the Euroa interest is of the saw mills owned by Frank and Louie Farrell and the Euroa Progress Association of which my father was Secretary. There is also mention of the house he built in Foy Street (with a flat roof) - we lived in Kirkland Avenue. My parents were Ernie and Alice Hunt and I am the youngest of their three daughters. There are five long pages of this section which I will willingly type and send if you are all interested - please let me know. He also wrote a great deal about his involvement in the internment camps at Puckapunyal and Tatura - he helped to build the first camps in these vicinities. Margery (Windsor, England) PS. Can anyone remember a lady named Miss Philipps who was a music teacher - I still have my first sheets of music covered in gold stars - she scared the daylights out of me when I was about 9 years of age (I'm 70 next birthday!). .
